Season of Midoran Posted: 12 Dec 2005 07:49 PM |
Midorans everywhere are celebrating the religious Season of Midoran. It is the most holy time of the year, for it marks the end of Aristi and the beginning of Midor. This year marks not only the 1001st year since the Salvation from Darkness, but also the first year that Midoran himself is present.
Week of Darkness ((13-20 Dec 05))
During this bleak week, Midorans dress in black to symbolise the dark times that existed before Midoran revealed the way of the True Light. The followers of Midoran are called to reflect on their sins and imperfections, and to pray for the blessing of the Just Hand. Absolution rites are performed regularly during this time: rites during which worshippers confess their sins in small prayer groups led by a priest, and are then called on to perform penance. Priests and paladins still pray to Midoran, more fervently than usual, but they refrain from actually using their powers during this time.
Day of Light ((21 Dec 05))
The most holy day in the Midoran year, this commemmorates the arrival of Father Sprenger and Sir Kramer into Aristi to save the city from the plague. A mass is held at noon re-enacting the arrival of these men, the arbiters of the Just Hand. At dusk, a mass known as "The Purge" is held. In early times, this was an actual purge, wherein non-believers and the worst sinners were massacred. Nowadays, it is merely ceremonial.
Midor Day ((New Year))
The brief season comes to a close with the celebration of the joyous day that Aristi was officially and lawfully renamed to Midor. |

((Just wanted to say I thought this was a great use of the journal and encourage the Vives Team to use it more often for other plots, changes, etc.
Also, is it just me, or do all the female commoners in Midor look like Marrya?....everytime one ran into me I thought she was going to ask me if I wanted to buy a bag! )) |
