CC'er credits?
Posted: 08 Dec 2005 05:49 AM
I am having a rather interesting debate on another forum about giving credit to those custom content creators of tilesets/placables etc on the NWVault that any mod/PW builder uses. We all know that leaving comments and voting on the Vault comes hard to most, they just don't bother.

I notice that the Vives team have made up a small list of credits to some of the CC'er's whos work Vives uses (And I approve!) But I also notice that as far as I can see, no credits are given to the tileset authors that Vives uses.

As a matter of interest, did any of the vives team ever vote for the content they use for the world? And if not, why not?

*grins* this is not a dig at anyone, I am honestly interested. On the other forum where this debate of whether or not anybody SHOULD comment or vote on content that has been given freely, the consensus is 50/50. (most builders saying no, most CC'er's saying yes) My own view is that since the CC'er's provide the world/mod builders with the means to create beautiful and interesting worlds, that the least they can do is leave a comment and/or vote for the very work that has enabled them to do so.

Thoughts?

One for the public writers/builders forums maybe?

Moved.

Myself, I think we should give credit to the people who make the content we use in the world, and give feedback on it- it's respectful, and probably helpful as well.

As far as I'm aware, however, Vives does a pretty good job of this.

For the custom content I've had a hand putting in, I've definately left feedback. It is my way of saying "thanks" for what they've done.

Vives has a *lot* of custom content. It is more than likely some stuff got added in that has not been credited. Also, to put it in, a fair bit of reworking was required in some instances, making the original unrecognizable from the files alone.

For the next nwn update, we are considering doing a major hak cleanup. We can see what has been missed and update our list.

*oops, trust me to have posted in the wrong forum!*

Thanks for that feedback all of you, tis nice to know that here at least, most feel that some kind of 'well done and thank you' is in order :)

The debate is raging still on the other forum, but I have a sneaky feeling it is just cos we all love to have a friendly bundle, rather than not being able to come to any firm agreement :P
