Bank IG Posted: 24 Oct 2005 05:08 PM |
I was just speaking with Tasra and I do think Vives is needing a bank, this would be great for people who carry great amounts of gold, and would increase RP aswell.
what do you think guys is it possible?
Thanks |

Being one of those persons who carries around vast amounts of gold, I concur ;). To expand, though, on Ch'ang's idea, I would like to see some different scripting and stuff that would take a LOT of work. One of my biggest gripes about NwN and D&D 3.0 is that everything is in gold. Kobolds have gold, orcs have gold, dragons have gold. Heck, even the tooth fairy leaves gold. I know this would be a LOT of work, and would require scripts and revamping of the treasure table, but I'd like to see some different currencies. Copper, silver, electrum, platnium to name a few. But you could take it even further, and have a Midoran currency and a Port Royale currency, and have exchange rates for the two. A bank would be able to exchange currencies from one form to another, and change currencies into something more portable, like gems. Four hundred thousand gold pieces is an AWFUL lot to schlep around. Perhaps gold should have weight? Not only would it make more sense, it would add a new dimension to coinage and worth.
Just my two gold pieces. |

Seriously unlikely.
It's a lot of work, for very little actual gain.

Damm Tasra cant be just have a Bank... something that you pay to store gold periode... why make it more dificult then it needs to be..??
Since storage in usual containers looks to be bugged...this could work and maybe it is not that much work for simple storage... |

Re: Bank IG Posted: 24 Oct 2005 09:22 PM |
Sorry, It will not happen for several reasons.
The biggest reason is that the vives mod is big. Real big. So big that we are now at the limits of what can be put into the mod. At this stage, anything that gets put in has to remove something else from it, and I've already removed most of the unused stuff.
A Bank is just not compelling enough compared to the other features in the mod, such as Areas, placeables, spell fixes, our pet critters, scripted quests and so on.

Gold Storage Reminder Posted: 24 Oct 2005 09:42 PM |
Just as a reminder on storing gold (and other) objects in persistent containers
Gold lost from being:
a) stored inproperly in a mailbox, or
b) being put inside a bag that is placed inside a container across a reset, or
c) too much gold stored in a pile across a reset
d) from a lost rental container because you failed to pay your rent
will not be replaced.

| But if it magically disappears for some odd reason because these sort of things can be buggy, it will be? |

Gold doesn't magically disappear unless you start risking nwn bugs and putting it into containers.
Given that these bugs exist, are known, and warnings have been made in the essential information forums, the answer is no.

If you ever see this happening outside of the known container issues, then please bug report it, but as long as I have been a DM I have never heard a of a complaint because of this. |
