Silly question Posted: 04 Oct 2005 08:29 PM |
How do you /tell a player who has quotes in their name? I cannot seem to get it to work, the quotes seem to mess up the location-finding for the tell (I get "player cannot be found" error).

I think you can't go with the character name in that case, but only by his or her player's ID.
I know, I tried *grins*

You cannot send tells to a person with quotes in their name using their name.
You will have to use their player id
You can use the website to get their player id, or you can wait until they send you a tell and click on their icon in the message window to send a tell back.

| About this, is it possible to remove Jinx's " " by ways of LETO or something? Or do I really have to start all over for a small name messup? :\ |

| not only would it involve editing the character file, but it also means updating every database entry associated with that character, of which a false move could end us scrambling for the backups |

Folks, can you please remember that character names shouldn't have aliases in them anyway. If your formal name is "Fred Bloggs" but you want everyone to call you "The loner" then please just have your character name as "Fred Bloggs" but when you introduce yourself say that you are called "The loner".
i.e. please don't have nicknames in quotes within your character name .
