Hello, a few things I have noticed:
When crafting if you get really good at a craft then you start to take exp hits. This seems strange to me as I would think that sure you may not learn anything new, but you sure as hell aren't going to forget what you have learned by practicing. I just think it would be nice if once you can craft something perfectly it just didn't give you any more exp.
Also, I have noticed that the Midor bowyer does not sell arrows or bolts. If he is not going to do so then it would certainly be nice if there was a fletcher nearby so that one could pick up some missile weapons.
Lastly I still wish there was a mage that would charge big cahs to identify items. I was thinking perhaps you could charge the person 3/4 of what the weapon is worth to identify it? Alright, talk to you all later.

Hi
The xp loss is a minor flaw in the CNR system for which there is now a fix.... I'll be incorporating this when I can sort out my probs with 131 and I can update.
The arrows and bolts etc will eventually be resolved by a dialogue driven merchant who will sell a variety, similar to the healing kit one currently in game.
As re: IDing then we have no plans for any npc's at this time, but perhaps a mad old Witch someplace might be able to help in the future. Other players is your best bet, failing that then maybe a DM Quest or somesuch.
Cheers

oh yeah... Another thing that would be nice would be the persistent oxen. Though I think that has already been mentioned some.

*tongue in cheek* Don't think anyone's mentioned the oxen. :D:D
How about salted meats? I saw a steak-and-ale pie for sale today. That was an interesting combination of arts. And every time I see garlic and ginger growing nearby a coastline full of boars, I think "Szechuan (sp?) Pork". There could even be steamed rice. Yeah, I know this, isn't Restuarant Tycoon. *grin*

Just my opinion here, but the ox merchant specifically says ok rental.
I'm officially against persistent oxen. They would clog the server with abandoned oxen in no time flat. It's unfortunate that the oxen disappear in a server crash, but IMO it's far better than having oxen scattered everywhere. They are meant to carry things from point A to point B, not to serve as persistent storage containers. |

Actually, the merchant asks if you would like to purchase one of his oxen, not rent it. I went and checked it again after having been a little confused by another discussion I read here somewhere.
I'm sure a clever scripter could devise a clean-up for oxen just the same as any other item which could conceivably clog the server, so other than the fact that the scripters have a lot of things to do which puts this at low priority I don't see that as a barrier. If that were seriously the issue there are a lot of different approaches that could be used when they eventually get around to it.
If the issue is that the powers-that-be don't consider crafting items or carrying out trade as truly desirable forms of role-playing in Vives, then that's a different subject.

I think that it's just that the powers that be are swamped... ;)
I will be working this weekend on some of these things, so I'll poke around and see what we can do about the oxen.

Does he really say purchase? I could have sworn it was rental... my bad.
And my opinions don't necessarily reflect the rest of the staff... I just know that the scripting folks have lots of things going on, and to me this seems like a small issue. |

"Does he really say purchase? I could have sworn it was rental... my bad. "
well, i think there are two conficting texts....i have seen "rental" also, but in the dialogue with the merchant, he says he is selling them.
personally, i love the oxen......but agree they need some tweeks. i know all the devs are swamped, and i am sure it is on the list, whenever you folks get around to it. bughunts take priority over new features....and there are plenty of new features that rate higher than this one. |
But long ago he rode away And where he dwelleth none can say |

| Are you planning on adding the helms? It would be nice to have helms matching the armor. |
