ooc: auction for Malakai
Posted: 23 May 2005 04:50 AM
After this post I will be putting up an IC auction post for the body, and select memories, of the mage known as Malakai. I am going to run this auction through the forums, and the deadline date is 6pm UK time, Monday 30th May. However, if any bid goes unapposed for more than 24 RL hours, that bid will be deemed to have won.

The reason for this way of running it is there is no time I can see that all interested parties can get a fair chance to participate.

Bids can either be submitted on the IC post, or if confidentiality is required, PM them to me and I will put them there as an anonymous bid.

The mechanics for placing a bid, as described in the IC thread, are unbeatable. If you are immune to mind effects you cannot bid. If you place a bid, your character must believe they have the funds in their personal possession -and- are absolutely willing to pay the offered price upon being successful, immediately and without clause, in return for the offered prize. Gold is the only acceptable currency for this auction.

I expect certain negotiations to occur over the next week, across the forums or even better IG. I will be mainly available at the weekend (Friday evening, Saturday afternoon/evening, all day bank holiday Monday) to run any requested meetings with "interested parties" or the auctioneers themselves. But can hopefully arrange for other DMs across the timezones to run any small meetings needed also, so send me a PM any time with such requests.

Any PMs you send to other players about this, would be helpful if you copied me on, just so I can see what is going on behind the scenes.

Finally the IC thread is to be 100% IC only. Anything ooc will be deleted. Any ooc comments or questions, please post here.

Cheers,

Sirac

Well, I don’t know about anyone else, but I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see the outcome of this. I swear I check the forums all the time to see if another bid is up... I can’t pass by the computer room without checking to see what the latest developments are.

What a splendid idea this was. Cheers to whoever thought of this auction... and for that matter, everyone competing. Its been great fun watching this all unfold. :D

Thanks folks, always nice to hear when people are enjoying stuff. And yea, can honestly say it has exceeded my expectations in every way, and led to a lot of very amusing negotiations. Great fun for us DMs to watch.

Anyway, things are coming to a head now. So just to say, sometime this weekend, I will be running a big(ish) event to tie up a lot of loose threads from this plotline. I cant say when, as it depends on whether the auction runs until Monday. But watch here for an announcement if you want to be involved, it will be at one of the following times (all UK based):

Friday evening, about 8pm onwards.
Saturday evening, about 7pm onwards.
Monday, about 5pm onwards.

All depends on the auction, and a few other factors. More to follow when I know more. And remember, if the auction isnt at an end, I am potentially free at some of the above times to run any necessary meetings with NPCs.

Cheers,

Sirac

Ok, this event has concluded. Hope that during the week building up to it, and the actual event, people enjoyed it. Sorry if the end was a bit of an anti-climax to some, but its the way it played out. I know I missed some people who had logged before the end for XP.

Drogar, Jessup and Calia, I will catch you both next time I see you IG. Anyone else I missed, send me a PM and will sort as and when.

This plot is over, but the story continues. As to what exactly happened....FOIG! :0)

Cheers guys, off to look after my sick wife who has had nowhere near the attention she deserves from me today!

I hope there is going to be an IC post by the winner as I can't FOIG, but I wouldn't bet on that :(

I for one will certainly be posting an IC account as soon as I have time to write it, though I would not guarantee everything that happened certainly from Elvalia's point of view becoming common knowledge either through that or IG. But it will shed light on some things people are in the dark over

Elvalia - Chosen of Aros
Elrith Mellin
Perin - 'Cleric (an' drewid) o' Elbreff' Weddin's an' pies a speciarality

Of course not, otherwise I wouldn't be posting about Juylina :P

And thanks :)

I utterly enjoyed this plot, it really gave me a chance to impliment aspects of my character that would never normally have a chance to come across. (Even if it encoraged shameless looting, and, even worse, crafting!)

:o)

I dont normally like political kinds of game but thought this was wicked. The different factions involved really came to life for me. Was sorry i could not make grand finalie!

It gave loads of entertainment interacting with the group i was with (Even though we ran out of funds in the end!) and with the others involved.

Many thanks to the portly dm who gave much of last week to running the whole thing. And to everyone else involved.

I second this - I very much enjoyed the whole thing. It's currently still hell for me to get online as my dang computer is still bust, but by hook and by crook I've managed to snatch a few minutes here and there on other peoples pc's to get IG and participate.

Very well run and a really nice idea. Especially liked the twists at the end of it.

Great fun!

I, for one, won't be doing any crafting for months after this.

Purpose in life: finding better ways of allowing players to kill themselves. Repeatedly.
