Echos of the Past

*a man returns to midor after a long and tiresome journy, his wounds bleeding but his main concern is the pain he carries in his heart. He steps into the temple to rest his tired soul but his mind wanders and he finds himself talking to a man long lost.*
"Father, I have survived yet another journy... It seems death dare not touch me no matter how much I laugh in his face. Perhaps father, perhaps it is your hand still guiding me... or perhaps I have just retained some of your strength."
*the man kneels and looks at the cross of midoran as if he could see a face inside of it*
"Do you remember your promise father? You.... said you would come back to me.... you promised father... you promised..."
*The man begins to weep as his mind lets lose the visions of a horrible battle*
"20 years father! I.... I.... was only a child! You knew I wasn't ready!... Oh father, you had to much faith in me leaving me your crusade, and your legacy. I cannot do it father... I will not do it... I... don't have the strength as you... and now I am lost father, lost in the world, and lost of myself. I am no man to make you proud father. Yet I can still feel your eyes on me father... watching me as if you were waiting for me to bloom. "
*The man takes a moment to wipe the tears from his eyes still lost in thought*
"I... cannot go on like this father... but I don't know what to do. I am so lost without your light, I... feel as if all I can see is darkness. You once told me I would one day save the world father... but you were wrong, that was your job father... mine.... was to save you... but I couldn't.
You were the one father! It was always you! I was just a child! You gave you life to save a failure father! Now we are both lost... lost in a sea of rightousness without a direction back home father... but... at least you have a legacy father. I am not even worthy of your name."
"I will try to keep my promise father... I want to make you proud"
*The man gets up and carves a name on the floor barely legible*
