Weekly Adventure Group (Thursday) Posted: 14 Jul 2003 11:11 PM |
I would like to start a weekly adventuring group. Our characters would meet once a week for a group adventure. During the days in-between, your character may wander around, but they should avoid gaining experience points. Obviously, players may use their other characters as much as they want.
You can consider the days in-between as the time the characters spend in-between adventures. They would be replenishing supplies, gathering information from the locals, crafting, and relaxing.
I propose a three hour session beginning on Thursdays at 9:30pm EST.
Step 1) Initially, I'd like to get a list of players who are interested in participating in this group. Please post what class you'll be playing and any important skills. (note the characters won't know this information, initially.)
Step 2) Once we have a balanced party established, then we can all expand on our character backgrounds. And the group background.
Step 3) I think our characters should reached either level 3 or level 4 before we meet as a group. We'll probably give a week or so for this process.
So if this type of gaming group appeals to you, please reply below.
Links to Character Backgrounds I'll add them as they become available.
* Bard - Punchinello Longfello * Rogue - Froido Peshe * Druid - Eemohone (scroll down to find it) * Fighter - Fennel Turningleaf (scroll down to find it) * Paladin - Marion Galin * Elven Fighter #2 * Dwarven Fighter (out until September)
Even though this will be an on going continuous adventure, our group will still be open to new players, even after we start. If you are still interested, reply here so we can determine how to integrate you into the group.

For this group, I'm considering play a bard with some skills in performing, persuasion, and a decent melee fighter.
If this type of character fits into the group, I'll write more details on the character background.

Dunno if this is welcome here in this thread, but when I am not in the toolset, this begins the average time I come on to DM if it gives any incentive to you folks to join at this time or whatnot. Just giving a heads up that there might be DM activity during this time :D

I'd like to second Fen's offer, extending it to other groups that have a regular meeting time. Nice initiative - actually I'll expand on possible supports for Adventuring Groups later on. Thanks Noggin'.

I'm all for this... I'm at work right now so gimme some time to flesh out a char. All groups need a good rogue... ;)
Additionally, I will also offer my services as a DM to another group, or to assist other DMs with groups I'm not in, depending on how many groups like this form up. |

Re: Weekly Adventure Group (Thursday) Posted: 15 Jul 2003 10:27 PM |
You can sign me up Noggin! I usually play along the aforementioned time anyway....though I usually don't get on until about 9:30'ish EST .... so the start time may be a problem for me :-(. I'm thinkin about maybe somekind of a shaman/medicine man type character... maybe a Druid/Ranger/Barb combo ( or something to that effect ).. He'll rely more on his knowledge and wit then his combat prowess. So he'll be heavy in the Wisdom and Intelligence department ( for his chosen skills ).. Possible skills will be Animal Empathy,Healing,Lore, etc..etc. Still kinda fleshing him out so i don't have a name or a story set in stone yet.... I will add that i can play just about anything that a party needs to better flesh it out. So, if this guy doesn't fit well into the party I am more then willing to fill a role better suited to a party environment ( i.e.- rogue, cleric, mage etc.. ). I usually did this anyway...... Whatever i play it sounds like it'll be fun regardless.... and that's what it's all about anyway right?

I think we have enough interest to begin Step 2.
Let all try to have some character background within one week. (At least have a draft.) They should probably be posted in the character background forum; yes, I'm stating the obvious, but for some they need the help :P. Then we can get an idea of the group character dynamics and the group background.
I'll add links to the character backgrounds by editting the top post.
BTW, sign ups are still open :)
I strongly suggest viewing the follow for ideas on how to develop your character background. Excellent posts by Arizzle.

| Trimus Truningleaf would also like to sign up for this venture. Like all of Neek's realitives, (He is Neek's cousin and financial advisor), bows are his passion. At present, Trimus is in his third season as a fighter/wiz. |

Well, it looks we have enough character backgrounds to preceed to Step 3.
Let's all create our characters (if you haven't yet), and individually get them to level 3-4. Afterwards, we can meet as a group.
Meanwhile, we will work on a group story that better defines our group cohesion.
How does an official start date for our weekly group session of August 7th sound?

I know the group is about to start up in the next week or so, but do you think you have room for a paladin among your ranks? If so, Marion Galin, a follower of Midorian himself, would like to join you in your travels.
A player history will be written up within the next couple of days... |

Arasus, you would be most welcome to join us.
It will be interesting to see a paladin's reaction to our boisterous group, LOL.
If you can get your character up to level 3-4 by next thursday, then you'll be all set.
I'm looking forward to seeing your character background. I'll add a link to it in the list of characters in the first post |

Hooboy! I can't wait to see how the relationship between Marion and Froido develops... Froido is a pretty chaotic dude... ;)
BTW, are we gonna recruit a cleric? It seems we don't have one yet... Not that that's a group-breakin thing or anything, just wondering. |

Re: Weekly Adventure Group (Thursday) Posted: 07 Aug 2003 02:25 PM |
Logistics:
How will we come together? is it to be presumed that we have already all met, or will one of us "gather" the first "joiner" and then those two will continue to move about and "build" the group?
Picky details, I suppose, but a small amount of discussion beforehand could help to move the initial RP along... |

Re: Weekly Adventure Group (Thursday) Posted: 07 Aug 2003 02:34 PM |
A possibility is to meet in the Four Winds Inn or somesuch and RP it from there...... might also be useful for gaining any background on DM Quests and such.
I would personally like to see some group RP and interaction before heading out onto what any adventure lies ahead, as would other DM's. It will help us gain an insight into group dynamics and let us plan any necessary changes etc.
Just a thought :)
Cheers
