Panic! Posted: 24 Nov 2004 04:58 PM |
Panic gripped the land of Vives earlier this evening. Earthquakes rocked every corner of the world, there were tales of huge earthen creatures appearing all over Vives, and all manner of strange phenomenon were reported. The cause of this disturbance remains unknown, but as suddenly as it began, it ended.
((all those with a sense for nature can still feel aftershocks sweeping through Vives, and there is a sense of loss seeping through the earth, as though something precious has been destroyed)) |

Fire falls from the heavens Posted: 25 Nov 2004 03:43 PM |
The people of Vives are still recovering from events earlier this eve. Fire fell from the heavens, flaming creatures appeared all across the land, and fire magic struck all and sundry. The volcano named Fiirhallen seemed to come closer to erupting than has ever before been known. As suddenly as it all began, it once more ended.
((all those with a strong link to Naruth felt something precious shattered. And yet there was also a sense of a great deal of the released energy being drawn into a single area...though not Fiirhallen)) |

Re: Ice consumes the land Posted: 26 Nov 2004 03:19 PM |
And again chaos reigns across Vives. Rivers turned to ice, snow fell inches deep across the desert, and the common folk of Vives retreated into their homes once more, the terror dulled not in the least by the frequency of these strange, cataclysmic events. It lasted a similar length of time to the preceding events, and once more ended as suddenly as it began.
((anyone with a link to Helkris - anyone at all!? The released power was almost entirely drawn into somewhere in the icy lands, though not into Helkris' temple. However, anyone with a natural spellcraft (no item pluses) of more than 20 can feel something in the very air about them now. Not related specifically to the recent ice storms, but more a culmination of recent events. A sense of a disruption to the magic they know so intimately. A corruption maybe. It feels like a growing pressure that is becoming more and more difficult to ignore, and if it continues you dread to think of what might happen.)) |

Re: Winds ravage the land Posted: 27 Nov 2004 02:38 PM |
As the air wardstone was broken, storms ravaged Vives. Lightning struck across the lands, wind swirled to a great roar making speech impossible and travel very difficult. Those outside noticed lightning hitting Fiirkraag mountain top more than any other place. The winds gusted towards the summit pushing many on a path towards the great mountain.
Then suddenly the wind increased intensity and swept all those outside to the summit. There stood a beautiful elven lady, strikingly dressed in a robe of dyed blue feathers with hair and piercing eyes to match. When she spoke, it was in a whisper that was somehow audible above the raging storm. Her voice was melodic and she occasionally broke into a gentle song that interwove with the cadence of the wind and piqued with the lightning strikes.
She spoke to those blown towards her and told them what they already knew, that the fourth seal was broken. She added what they did not know, but what seemed of little use, that the breaking of these seals would result in the release of intense magical powers stored and corrupted in Nethar'u for eons. She predicted that this outburst of magic would affect all in the lands, perverting the magics many relied on. All she could do was to warn that this was to happen, and suggested they pray to their Gods, warn all whom they loved and prepare in any way they could think of. Realising she had nothing further of use to impart and feeling somewhat impotent, she summoned the winds of her Goddess to return them all to the base of the mountain.
((OOC : Any spellcaster can feel a terrible pressure growing all around them and have a sense of an impending magical explosion, though what nature this explosion might take is unknown)). |

Re: Nethar'u opens and magic goes wild Posted: 28 Nov 2004 03:11 PM |
It is rumoured that a large party accompanied Alianda of the Order of Ladriel into Nethar'u itself. To go into Nethar'u seemed madness, yet to go there when magic is so unpredicatable, utterly insane. Yet those of the Black Pearl saw the group descend to the Undercity and return many hours later, seemingly unscathed. Alianda herself had returned hours before, firmly holding hands with a sad looking young girl.
Perhaps those who drank at the Pearl had imbibed too much that eve, yet they say that the party returning claimed to have sealed magical rifts in Nethar'u, claimed that although the rifts were sealed that magic would run wild until the effects had dissipated. Some say this could be days yet ....
((Thanks to all who took part, it's been a fun 4 month long quest to DM, hope you all enjoyed it too. Sorry about the lag tonight, the admin team are doing all they can to reduce it for future events, hope it didn't spoil people's fun too much Thanks, from Sirac and Solitaire (the Weaver and the Dreamer) )). |

The most observant of the Pearl's inhabitants, may remember a timid wizard, Solitaire's own apprentice, go down.. but he was not seen to return..

Wild Magic Posted: 28 Nov 2004 10:35 PM |
Reports from all over are coming in from all over the lands, rumour are spoken in the taverns.
No one is safe from the effects of the magical surges that cause all spellcasting and prayers to go awry.
Some say it is Theus showing is displeasure at the lack of reverence paid to him, others say the gods themselves are turning their backs on the people's of vives. Still more claim that the end of the world is nigh. People are turning to the gods in hopes of avoiding their fate.
Only one thing is certain. Every day that passes causes the magics to become even more and more erratic.
For the peoples of vives that rely on the magic, it is dire times indeed. |

((yes we are happy to jump you guys out. If we see you IG will try and sort it, otherwise best trying to get a DM in IRC.
Apologies again about the horrific lag. Sol and I actually got kicked as DM's and couldnt get back in a couple of times...like when the Marillith Overlord decided it was a bit peckish! Suffice to say, the Netharu storyline from beginning to end was a learning curve for us both. We did run quite a few big 20 - 30 player events that worked well...but in general we will only run events that size again if we can definitely split the party before -any- combat. You guys were only meant to have to fight through one tough area before splitting up, yet even that proved impossibly laggy with 20+ players and 2 DM's in the 1 area. :0(
And this storyline / chapter is over now, so Sol and I will be running a few smaller storylines as well.
And look, Netharu is open and the world hasnt ended! *grins evilly* ....yet!!
Cheers,
Sean )) |

((Daimon's Here on this side to stop any trespassers.....
Sorry I couldn't make the Event.... a few days before the event, my Graphics card device failures increased in frequency slowly from once every few days, to once every hour... and on saturday night.... once as soon as I log on.... I spent all night trying to fix it... to no avail... but I hope you guys had fun. at least, as the event took place mostly in Netharu, I didn't have any required presence, and wasn't causing any misfortune. *thumbs up*
cheers, I hope to see you all again as soon as I fix that damned intel piece of crap)) |
