Things for Evil Characters Posted: 06 Nov 2004 08:12 PM |
I was thinking that evil characters like followers of the goddess of fire might find that the monstes down there dont attack them.
But they are attacked when they go to places like Midor or ferein. The same for elven is it possible for the guards to attack baced on what race you are?
This is purely for added realism for our evil characters, as in a follower of Tarik getting attacked if they went to Ferein

The groundwork for that has been laid previously in the mod (I stumbled across the code by accident one day).
You may have noticed the effects of the code when wild animals attack some but not others.
It needs to be expanded so that it works for the different groups. I have not thought of the best way to do that yet.
It's on my todo list.

| Hmm... I could understand creatures in a gods domain not attacking a follower, but as for evil characters, or followers of Tarik.... I think it may be a hard thing to just notice about them (unless of course they are wearing robes of the Tarik order or somesuch) Take Macha for example. When she first decided to follow Tarik she was essentially still herself. Only because Tarik made her go to the council of Ferein was she found out and banished from the city. Just because someone is evil aligned doesn't necessarily mean they show it. Some of the most evil people are the ones that are kind with an agenda in the shadows. They gain your trust and get you vulnerable, and then pounce when you have no idea what's happening. To that end, I could see it working for groups ie. Wear Fire Knives garb in night mask territory and they might think you a spy and deal with you, or night mask garb in Midor, guards might subdue you and haul you in. I can't really see it working for alignment though. Just my two... mm.... those shiny things... you know. |

Re: Things for Evil Characters Posted: 07 Nov 2004 11:41 AM |
I was thinking that evil characters like followers of the goddess of fire might find that the monstes down there dont attack them.
This would certainly require a token of somesuch to identify yourself to the NPCs. Armor, helm, robes, whatever. And then of course, the modification to the mod to support it (which pdw mentioned above is already in place -somewhat-).
But they are attacked when they go to places like Midor or ferein. The same for elven is it possible for the guards to attack baced on what race you are?
But like someone else already said, many evil characters work within the environs of the 'good' establishment. The only way I'd see NPCs auto-attacking a PC is if 1) the PC is brandishing the 'evil' token from above, and/or 2) The PC is well-known in that area or by that faction to be unwelcome (as in, long term memory stored in the database). Now this is something I've been meaning and wanting to add in for about 2 years now, but just have never gotten around to it. Given my track record for this specific feature, don't hold your breath for anything on this front.

| Evil characters working under the guise of goodness? NO. I don't know anyone who could possibly do that. *steeples* |
Do not ask of them questions. You will receive three answers, all of which are true and horrifying to know. |

Eh been working on a character of late, and was curious if there are items in place for the Evil side.
Paladins and Champions of Torm so to speak have their holy avenger... Now Im still a bit young to know of everything in game I was curious if Blackguards have something kind of equivalent? Some pinacle weapon that they can use?
Mayhaps this is a quest that they can strive for, who know's. I was just curious in which direction I need to travel if there is something for the evil ones.. Got a character that's workin with a Bastard Sword LOL, would be nice if there was a hint as to where to go.
Other areas of interest? Paladins got the Midor temple as their "place" so to speak... are there plans for other places? Like a temple dedicated to Syn?
Just some questions mebbe there is something out there.. but Im still young yet, so dont know.

Hum...Holy Avengers are...impossible to find.
And I mean, impossible. I mean in Vives.
As for the syn temple, there is a place for it. Can't tell you though... ;)

Re: Things for Evil Characters Posted: 02 Mar 2005 04:11 PM |
I don't know, there's not a whole lot out there that's specifically geared towards good or evil. Sure, there's some stuff, but nothing as focused as a Holy Avenger for a paladin or a special sword (Dark Vengeance?) for a blackguard.
That's not to say that such things can't exist. Usually, special items are granted to players upon the completion of a significant quest, and as always, suprerior RP must exist.
Of course, this isn't a promise for special items across the board. But a few are out there.
