A Little on Roleplay

As you may have known this is/will be a strict RolePlay Server. The following is a brief list of do's and don'ts as a guideline (though by no means comprehensive as of yet)..........

(1) In "Talk" and "Party" Mode, please do not use ooc expressions. For example: "Hey dude" or the little smiley faces such asSmiley;P :/ etc etc. Please stay in character when not in the OOC players lounge.

(2) No Shouting whatsoever.

(3) No Griefing (be it stealing from the same person 20 times in a row, PKing for no reason etc)....

(4) No duelling in the middle of the streets for "fun" take anything like that to the OOC arena.

OK, I'm bored of this list already. Basically ROLEPLAY, act in an adult manner (remembering this is after all a game) and most of all have FUN!

None of us should need a list of do's and don'ts on this server. It's just basic common sense.

This hasn't turned out the way I wanted, but I'm sure the message is the same (I thought about deleting it but sod it :D).

However, an important note is that DM's will (as they already have) be giving out small XP awards for outstanding RolePlay, BUT also will be removing XP (and even levels and items if necessary - and we're not talking about removing a torch ;P) for going out of char/metagaming etc.

I hope the message gets across. It's common sense really. If in doubt then ask a DM or admin.

Cheers

I'd like to make a slight clarification point. I use emoticons IC to convey a mannerism. For example, I might say:

"Perhaps you'd find that sword more effective if you stop waving it about like it's a feather duster (:"

In this case, the emoticon is used to convey a sense of "I'm just kidding you know" that wouldn't be obvious from just text, but would be obvious in a real world from body language and facial expressions. (:

Well the upside down smiley faces are ok but the other ones have got to go. :P

I do what the voices in my head tell me too.

I understood that Party -talk was considered ooc anyway? I at least treat it as such, so I haven't really thought what i say there. But if Party talk is considered IC then forever shall I hold my peace ;-)

Unfortunately I dont think this will ever be the case and we should have a defined "expectation" of the level of roleplay we expect in Vives.

For instance, I don't think characters should talk about weapons as "+1 grade" or their levels as "I've nearly made my next season" (and they have), but your typical "I've never roleplayed before playing NWN/Diablo" player see's decorating game mechanics in obvious wordings as perfectly fine RP.
