Get Rich Quick scheme Posted: 16 Sep 2004 02:31 AM |
Sooo.. Log the dwarf sells Heavy Crossbows for 57 gold, yeh?
Aaand.. Castidis(little gnome merchant in the main room of the Inn) buys 'em for 97 gold.
Of course, this is with favorable reputation.
40 gp scam, not a big deal.. except that heavy crossbows don't weigh much, and I'm assuming Log conveniently has an unlimited supply?
This also, apparently, works with half-plate. Buy for 336, sell for 500.
Quite a bit more, but also quite a bit more weight.
Just thought I should bring this up. Is it an issue being worked on? I doubt anyone would stoop as low as to exploiting this, but *shrugs* no harm in pointing it out. |

You know what, I personally think that things like this ought to be possible, perhaps not to such an extreme.
Just an idea with little thought behind it, but perhaps there could be someway of people become traders like this if there was some way of a challange involved. Maybe people could work for Ender as a go between.
Just a thought. |

*Recalls the old merchant system, where you could buy things for a few thousands, and sell them for more than a hundred for one exploited merchant* =P
It was kinda amusing to make a million and then throw it away because it didnt feel right =P
Dens
p.s the merchant that just... gave out money (hehe.. the first presistant merchant around Midor).. was a nice way to get money as well =p |

As long as the merchants are seperated by a large number of areas, yes, perhaps.
I think it will just be a matter of balancing the merchants to set up a number of possible "trader runs".

Thinking back......... the idea for the Buckshire trading post originally was one of lots of trading in rare silks, metals and other commodities........ We could set it up for some sort of trading system (maybe kinda like elite or somesuch remember that? :P)....... I'll have a think but any ideas on what you'd like would be welcome :)
cheers

Re: Get Rich Quick scheme Posted: 17 Sep 2004 11:06 PM |
I remember Elite and I had an Amiga ...
I think it would be cool if we could work out some way to be able to start a trade in crafted items. Something along the lines of a consignment shop or maybe a shop that offered credits for items that you could use for other crafted items. For example, if I was making vials and flasks I could trade them for credit to be able to buy a leather bag that another player had traded in. Anything along those lines to encourage players to craft and interact with each other would be welcome.

I like crafting.
In some people's eyes, a fixed scripted crafting system is mindless and repetitive- but to me, it really, really isn't.
Some of the most fun I had was when Vives was a lower level server and people were going out to get crafting materials.
I still dread Fire Opal runs, even though the PCs now are 5-10 levels higher on average now than they were then.
It can really give a sense of purpose, or success and failure, to trips which otherwise might only be about XP.

Yep i loved elite and the bards tale on my Amstrad 6128 But the best game was pirates Not only was it an elite style trading game but you also got to get the girl, fight the french and spanish, sack there towns and sword fight. And a superb lesson in the geography and history of the caribean gets thrown in for free. . |

Actually Im lying. I had a C64 too. I also had a Commodore C16 +4 which had the most awesome game. FireAnt. But you couldnt get it for the C64. Then they released it on the Amiga but it was crap. God I miss that game.
