v.2.37.5 to v2.37.8 changes Posted: 16 Aug 2004 02:00 AM |
Hi All,
I can't tell you al the changes that were made, but I can give you some of the details:
- I've reduced the weight of the vives tools for you weaker characters. Old characters will have the old heavy tools until such time as I make a way for the tools to get updated automatically, such as by going to, and leaving from the OOC lounge. In addition, I've made the Vives Toolbox reduce the weight of what it holds by 40%. A nice bonus for starting characters.
- some crafted leather items were not showing up as identified when the crafter made them. Ugh. Fixed.
- certain spiders now drop silk properly
- endurance and timestop spells were not giving xp to casters - fixed.
- some administrative stuff you will never know, or care about :)
- made some places tougher. Be careful where you visit. You'll never know which areas have become more dangerous as I don't put signs out tell you (except for one place :)
- earth elementals? expect to see them showing up. nothing but hard rock here!
- healing potions? sure. you can make them. If you think you are good enough. (v2.37.8)
- some new CNR resources placed in game. They won't be easy to get to. Can't tell you what they are or where they are. (v2.37.8)
- made some creatures tougher (basically fixing things that were broken on the monster builds). Never take an encounter for granted unless you are travelling with a party of high priests
- bugfixes, lots of little bugfixes.
Thats all for now!

Thanks for the updates! It's always nice to hear about progress/changes.
Follow-up question on the above quoted: Is work going to continue to bring the creatures inline with their PnP monster manual descriptions?
Thanks! |

Good question.
Will have to get back to you with an answer on that.

| I was wondering if someone could tell me, The Spell Energy Drain whats is suposed to do, cause to me all it seems to do is lower saveing throws because if it actualy lowered levels you should lose skills and feats and spells and possibly stats too as per the level drop. All information is welcome |

| well, if the spell is following normal DnD rules (3.0 or 3.5) then the Energy Drained/Negative levels condition doesn't actually take away levels (not at first, at least, have to pass a fort save 24 hours later...blah blah blah, therefore making it inapplicable to NWN). A negative level gives a -1 on all ability and skill checks, -1 on attack rolls and saving throws, -5 hit points, and -1 effective caster level for spells. If you have more negative levels than actual levels, you are instantly slain. So yeah, it's bad. I don't know if the spell follows this exactly, but it should be somewhere close. |
Do not ask of them questions. You will receive three answers, all of which are true and horrifying to know. |

I have tested the spell and it works as it is supposed to.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to do, but Calia cast it on Evaramier yesterday and I gained 4 negative levels.
However, the only thing that changed was my saving throws. HP's were the same, number of spells were the same, stats (that I noticed) were the same. I even rested to see if I'd lose the extra spells but I didnt. I dont know if my caster level for determining damage was affected though.
If this was what was supposed to happen it worked fine. But I have to confess it seems a very useless 9th level spell. |
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Just checked the spell code.
That is the way the engine implements it.
It would have to be recoded completely to get around the engine implementation.
Perhaps later, but not now.
