V?
I really don't recollect that one. But of that era, or any era really, Magnum PI was the best, hands down. |

I'm still not 100% certain if Higgins was Robin Masters. I'll need to ask him when I'm next at the King Kamehameha.
Since the thread has been hi-jacked, I'll throw in a few odd selections.
M*A*S*H Police Squad Battlestar Galactica
And...many others. Ah, the Golden Age of television series. |

V (or The Visitors) was one of my favorities when I was a kid. The two main characters:
Diane (sexy baddy chick alien leader [who] swallowed the rat) (Jane Badler of Falcon Crest)
Mike Donovan (Mark Singer of The Beast Master -- awesome flick)
Ah... the memories.

Without question, Robin Masters and Higgins were the same person. Watch the episode where Higgins and Magnum are trapped in an elevator in an abandoned building. I think it was that one that Magnum figures it out. No, the show wasn't there to get women to watch T.V.! I would watch that ferrari all day long, and analyze T.C. because his rainbow-colored helicopter and his more-than-subtle homosexual attraction towards Higgins. Remember how he says, "Higgie-baby"? Seriously, anybody who's anybody knows that the complex relationship of Higgins, Magnum, and the Ferrari is a satire parallelling the complex relationship of King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, and Guenevere. Trust me, I wrote a paper on it. :P

Talking about homosexual films 'Top Gun' was the greatest gay film made....yes it was just look at it the only reason Maveric got with the his boss was so that they could get it on the big screen. You still dont beleive then look at the volleyball sence and the song 'the boys are .etc' but never the less a great film and one that gave a smile to all hetrosexual men the world over... |

Beast Master? Argh.. awful! Only thing worse was Blade Master.. what a monumental flop that was. Im sure you didnt see it.. it played in like two theaters (think iltalian spagetti western, but a fantasy movie) |

No youre wrong... as a 16 year old testosterone fueled fantasy nut i was lusting for more having seen Arnie in Conan and then there it was, Beast Master ;camper and lower budget admittedly but it filled the gap until conan the destroyer. |

Now I admit the first Conan movie rocked. One of the best fantasy movies of all time in fact. Beast Master on the other hand.. well.. |

Well, you must admit that it has a very special place in the history of such films. Specifically because many people (including you) have a recollection of it. ;)

Dude, Basil Poledouris and the Governator, a deadly combination. Destroyer was not as impressive as Barbarian, mostly because it had an NBA star as a bodyguard/villain. Of the few redeeming values of Beast Master, two of them were Kodo and Podo. The attempts at sequels to this movie forced me to gouge out my eyes and develop a rare form of keyboard-precision clairvoyance.

I have to say the only gay thing about Top Gun is your obsession with the boys being gay in top gun and how things like the "Volleyball Scene" are "well so gay like ya know" (trust me, he's been going on about this for years). |

OK What about Krull ? now that made the Beastmaster look good... I still watched it at least 3 times though.. the flying horses arrgghhh !
And of course nobody has mentioned Ray Harryhausen, without whose classic films perhaps none would have followed. The sword fight with the skeletons is still perhaps the best piece of fantasy action ever. Fact. |

Yep, theres a reason why nobody mentioned Krull.. it should not be mentioned! Yes Ray's work on the Sinbad movies is classic. |

Re: RL Rewritten Dallas thing Posted: 30 Jun 2004 01:38 PM |
The Channel 5 (by me) Sinbad weekend features were fantastic. Loved them all. Then there was that Jason and the Argonauts movie. But I think that was 70s. Back to the 80s there was Back to the Future and that movie Clash of the Titans. Flawed slightly, but good nonetheless.
I'll agree with the Krull sentiment - and the comic books were nearly as bad - but I have to heartfeltly (new word) disagree about The Beast Master. The first one was wonderful. I think I saw a sequel and I crushed my ankles to distract me from it. |
