Vives' size Posted: 13 Mar 2004 12:16 AM |
| Hi i'm pretty new to Vives, and i come from a rather large PW (5 servers big). Well i've played on it for a few days and, PROPS TO VIVES!!!! The gameplay is AMAZING!!! completely INCREDIBLE! there is actual a purpose to roleplay, and people like to roleplay, a great community, VERY interactive. a GREAT community and mechanical system. I am honestly VERY amazed that this kind of stuff could even be done!!! So i wanted to start off with that GREAT props to Vives because it had alot of work, and i think anyone could tell because it is completely wanderful! Well with that said, i'd like to ask a question since i am a newB to the world, i really don't know but would like to know if possible. Is Vives fairly large, as in will i be done exploring the whole world within a month or so? Will i be going to the same places over and over to gain XP and loot ect. I personally like roleplaying more than adventuring or fighting or anything, BUT i do like to adventure alot though. So i was just wandering if there would be enough land out there to keep me...entertained, heh thanks ahead of time. Again though GREAT job to the makers of Vives! just wanted to ask that question before i went head over heals into the server and got my friends on it, thanks :) |

| The server is veryyy big and its always getting new areas. You'll have alot to explore really. |
Why search around when the answer is within you...?

| Well it took me 900 hours to see everything, barring a few areas. But areas keep being added in, so you won't reach the end yet ;) |

Hmmm lets see, there's one place I ran away after I saw who lived there (luckily it never saw me), there's one place Fri'el, Luther and X ran away because all we could see was a leg from a screen away
Then there's one spot X won't go because he heard what was there and he's not yet able to protect him against that...
Ah yes and there's one place I ahve never gone, but won't do so on my own, because I have no idea whatsoever what is behind it.
How's that for cryptic? :P |

| Somewhat partaining to size, i was also wandering if it is "dangerous" enough to keep higher levels (30-40) at risk, and stuff. As in what is the highest level for vives before you become a walking avatar? also i read that you can buy a book (in-game) and write it in, as in like write your story and such and i was just wandering where i could go to get a book like that. thanks again |

There is no 30-40 yet. =P
Highest is 25, I believe. And, last time I checked, she's still challenged. I know my level 20 is.
I'm not sure where the books/parchments are. Check a library, perhaps?

| Loli, at level 25, is definitely still "at risk and stuff" in Vives. *laughs* I'm not telling where or from what, OOG. But there are places she can't survive alone for long, and some she's never been to. Barnas's Level 20 and Phoenix-Dias's Level 21 are both better equipped for soloing in Vives than she is. But then, she was never intended to be a behemoth. She's a person, not a piece of military equipment. |

| Those books can only be made yourself by exporting an .erf file. The writing in vives isn't persistant. |

| The writing in Vives used to be persistant, though. Maybe again, someday. |

Create a shortcut on your desktop and set the target as:
C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain.exe +connect vives.dyndns.org:5121

Re: Vives' size Posted: 14 Mar 2004 06:47 AM |
Barnas, I just tried making that shortcut and it didn't work for me :( I even realised to change the path to where my NWN is located.
But when I used the shortcut, I got a windows error report saying NWN had faield to start and did I want to send a report. Then when it crashed back to the desktop there were a load of other icons added to the desktop, like dmvault, local vault etc.
Any ideas ?

Hmm.. Well, Phoenix_Dias said that no matter what he did, he could never get that trick to work for him.
However, for me it's worked every time.

Re: Vives' size Posted: 14 Mar 2004 07:51 AM |
Yes this never did work for me and I use Windows XP Pro. Barnas uses XP home I think, so it can't be -that- different.
I also got an error whenever I tried that shortcut, hence I stick to clicking my way through all the menus ;) |

My Computer>> System Information will tell you.
It also says "Windows XP Home Edition" or "Windows XP profesional edition" when you start your computer up ;)
Unless you're using Logon Loader/Similar to change to boot screen.
