Giving the DM's a break
Posted: 25 Feb 2004 03:30 PM
This is something that I've been recently thinking a lot about. I know there have been issues recently with players being unhappy with one another - having issues with one thing and another.
I know at least one DM who's unhappy - because of constant bombardment while trying to enjoy the game. So please, Spare a thought for them while playing :)

As far as I'm aware of the general precedure, you should contact Alosynth if you feel that there is a problem with a player, or even another DM. If you have to speak to another DM about something very specific I would suggest perhaps leaving a PM here rather than talking to them whilst in game - unless of course you have a serious problem that has to be resolved straight away.

So please, let the DM's enjoy themselves too ;)

I agree, DM's should have fun too! Shouldn't problems with other players be dealt with in game anyway? (unless its extreme) I know Mhoraethian wouldnt hesitate to nail some sucker if it was truely warranted and in character for him to do so. He has already blacklisted a couple characters (meaning he will have nothing to do with them... nothing friendly anyway). DM's are there to add content and solve game engine mishaps, not deal with player interpersonal issues.

I am not sure if particular DMs deal with particular issues (and this can be positive as well as negative) but if this is the case then it may be useful if we could know who does what. At the moment I have been bombarding poor Alosynth with issues about my character development. Sorry Alo.

When you have any kind of question, please funnel all questions towards Alosynth, as he is the main PR person and will hear your ideas, complaints, suggestions, or questions in general (That is his jobTongue out.)

Not bad, but I still say the bottom half of it is wasted space that should be cropped.

Like this..

Actually, IMO, DMs -are- there to deal with interpersonal issues which are emergencies. But, any PC you can see in the "P" list is a non-DM character even if it is played by a DM. If you cut the DMs short on their time as players, not only do you wreck the social lives of their non-DM PCs, but you make the DM surly as heck and we all suffer. So, give them a break when they are being players instead of DMs. ;)

OOC(( The bottom half of the picture enhances the feelings of lonliness and solitude the picture evokes. With it, the picture speaks, without it, it would just be a picture of some guy standing on top of a rock.

I feel I have to reply to Slink's post.

I gave up playing here quite awhile ago, being a DM. I did so for several reasons. One, I am able to devote more time and be quite impartial IG if I am not muddled by my own characters, or worry about spending time RP'ing or raising my skills as a character in the lands. This way, I can worry about storylines, plots, view all that is going on between all the players through the help of other DM's as well, and give 100%. If I had a character, it'd be more around 50%-75%, which is unfair to the players.

Secondly, I for one would not even have fun as a character, at least here. What fun is it to play when you know of every area, ever script, and every aspect? As a builder and also the Head-DM, I can tell you right now there isn't one thing IG I really don't know about, and how much fun is that, when one cannot explore or find something new and exciting beyond the RP of others.

Just my two centsTongue out.

Well Fenerisk, maybe it's the role-play that interests the person, rather than a new area, monster, or quest. We're all ages and both genders here. Not all of us need frenetic action to be happy. ;)
