The Annals of Mhoraethian, Part 1 2/18/2004 2:52:57 PM   (Total replies: 1)
It was a miserable day. Dark clouds swirled overhead as Pope the Bard looked out and surveyed the landscape outside the Four Winds. Inside the sounds of merrymaking went on, oblivious to the renewed rainfall. "Gods, it has been raining for days" thought Pope. "And why am I standing out here in the rain, when the fire is burning, and the Ale flows freely inside?" Some spark of intuition had prompted him to step outside, and he wondered at it as he scanned the distance, peering through air murky ...

First came a faint and murky sound. Slowly though, it became recognisable. Music, and voices raised in mirth. He opened is eyes, sitting up slowly. A room, an Inn... the Four Winds.. he recognised it. A staff leaned against the wall, he strode to it, taking it up reflexively, then looked at it. Questions. The man closed his eyes, the fog in his mind slowly began to clear. Mhoraethian, that is I. How had he come to be here, and from whence? His memory gave no reply to his question, ...

I had something similar happen to me once; imagine my horror when my summoned spider started slaughtering the children playing in the fountain at Port Royale. Everything was back to normal after the next server reset. I just chalk it up to a bad nightmare.

Re: The XP Catch-22 3/9/2004 11:51:55 AM   (Total replies: 2)
I highly recommend going after DM event and RP XP. Not too long ago I had a "bad level" as you describe it, and that is how I was able to put it behind me (and I had a lot of fun in the process). If you are getting killed solo then dont solo.. it will only make the situation worse. Another thing you could try is crafting. I understand it gives XP, though i havent tried it yet (cant seem to find all the ingredients).

Re: Vives #1 problem 3/2/2004 11:51:58 AM   (Total replies: 1)
I agree on both counts. Vives is a fabulous world, and the lag is the #1 problem here. If dropping CNR will get rid of the lag, then I am all for it, but as you say, we would need to find an equitable solution for the folks who have invested time in trade skills. All I can say is that Vives would be a much better experience without the lag.

Re: Other options 3/3/2004 4:51:36 PM   (Total replies: 1)
My experience is that around 15 +/- folks are in game I generally start getting the yo-yo effect in movement, which tends to get worse as more people come on line. This always seems to get worse when I enter combat. The result is I now only take on dangerous foes when there are few people on line. When the lag starts up but i still want a little action, my Wizard sticks to stuff he cant beat to death with his staff and stays away from party combat situations where things tend to get even ...

One more comment. While My last post is focused on how lag effects combat, it is equally a problem for role playing. Conversations are already less than real time, and with lag added, it gets very hard to have a conversation with 3 or more folks. Too often there is a long pause, followed by everyone saying somthing at the same time. Anyway, I'm sure I'm just stating the obvious. While lag during role play is annoying. Lag during combat is far more frustrating.

Re: Immunity items: Out of control? 3/3/2004 12:17:32 PM   (Total replies: 1)
While we are on the subject of loot drops... My character has now found 5 +3 Scarabs of protection from random drops. It could just be random chance, but this particular item seems way too common to me. Mind you, I have not found any of +1 or +2 enchantment. Perhaps we can tone down the occurance of this item?

<quote><color="#336699">Was this recently that you found all three of these, or from a few weeks ago?</color></quote> I think this question was directed at me? I found my 5th Scarab of Protection +3 last night. At least one other was in the last 2 weeks. I do believe that they were found in 5 different locations and that all were random drops.

I agree with the "Completely remove it or leave it be" sentiment. Otherwise you are putting late comers at a disadvantage. Its better to keep a level playing field for everyone.
