Re: CNR Updates Posted: 19 Aug 2006 05:16 PM |
There ARE arrows IG (in one store) that do an additional 2d6. It is also possible to craft arrows of various types that will also do that amount of damage - you will however need both a high level of woodcrafting and enchanting, and I mean high - that was deliberate.
As to the poison arrows, Paul is away at the moment and unable to access the toolset and cnr is his baby, I am sure it will be looked at when he is able. |

someone please bug report the 99 poison arrows. That was a problem before with the other arrows and I had it fixed. must have missed one.
there will be elemental arrows that do 1d6 and 2d6 damage once I add it to the enchanting menu.
no changes until I get back into HK though.

1.) I bug reported the Poison arrow issue about a month ago in detail.
2.) As probably Vives premeir present arrow-crafter, who's been at it like crazy since day 1 of the new system addition, let me say that I personally love the system, and while I'm always vying for more options, (I do have to make a living, and feed a family...IG) The present options are excellent. The Arrowcrafting is the 2nd system that's been totally revamped and implemented by PD and, what you don't know, is that the former system was -TERRIBLE- The present system allows archers to become in possession of some of the best legal equipment in vives, and I'd say with possible exception to say, The other CNR revamp Paul made, the Wood-crafting system is now Vives most advanced, intricate, and powerful production process available to most PCs. It certainly leaves -all- of the other CNR systems in the dust, especially in terms of effect range, and power of produced items. You are very lucky that your new character happened to come to Vives during this phase of the woodcrafting system, and not 2 years earlier. The staff is at work in broadening the system, even farther than it is already, but since it's implementation, Paul has also implemented some really cool Spell changes, Bows, bug fixes, and various -need to do things to keep Vives alive- that none of us probably even know about. So, in summary, having -anything- after so long of having 8 different kinds of -arrows only- that only do +1 damage, even at master levels, is a vast improvement, let alone the intricate step-step process that was created for Vives' new incarnation of the Wood-crafting system. Even though I would personally profit immensely off of any additional implementations for the arrow-crafting system, I would say that the other systems, particularly jewlery making, and certainly armor crafting, weaponcrafting.... shield crafting, Trap Tinkering, are yielding a lot of practically worthless items for a lot of hard-earned labor, and could use some attention before the Spiral comes back to Arrow-crafting again for further work. |

Uff da! I opened this page and my browser I set to put the newest post first, but earlier pages sometimes pop up first and I have to read previous posts before I reload to see the most current... I was shocked to see that Malar Hides weren't tanning right!!! ((relax relax! They've fixed that since!!!))
ARROWS & FLETCHING: Well said, Veran. I too am very grateful! So, let me confirm that you CAN buy Arrows that do 2d6 additional acid damage, and I may be mistaken, it may actually be 2d8, I'm not sure. I was just in there 2-4 days ago shopping. The same shop also sells arrows of elemental damage 1d6, and bows better than you can currently craft ((for my particular PC anyways. I guess particular item usefulness is all relative and it depends on how you built your character. If my Fav PC didn't have 4 attacks per round with his dual weapon feat + Dex to attack rolls, I'd totally make him an archer.)) Now if you have to be an elf, or a woodland class to buy the items... well, that I can't tell you. Just keep looking if you haven't found the shop. You don't even have to be high level to find it. Sywyn will also sell you the arrows if you're needing them, and he likes you.
Veran has a PC who woodworks, as does Elven Seraphim, and the Ranger... Kalannar is working on improving the skill too. If you get to the legendary arrows of crushing and ripping and piercing, then you can actually MAKE those types that do an additional 2d6 damage ((if it's actually 2d8 sorry for the mistake.)) There are even tricks to speed up progress if you are certain classes, and that REALLY is cool, if you ask me. I think it adds to RP. Fletching IS INDEED a powerful skill. Tailoring is also useful to us bards who can use items of all variations and types: Those bags allow you to be prepared for almost any situation ((thus the Bread provisions for our last trip to Abaddon.)) =P Thank the gods you can still make bread!!!
Really if anything is going to get fixed, I would repeat that woodworking should maybe be the least of concerns. It really is a great skill right now. Maybe I'd add a better bow to be made, and I miss that you could make bow cams and used different woods before, but really before we do that, I'd like to see the cooking and brewing actually work, and the amulets be more useful than just /10 Elem Dam Res, Better Scarabs ((+3)), and golden armour/wpns have better sale value, and bring back enchantable weapons with elemental effects to add to the different metal types. There is so much that could be added, and I'm sure our great admin folks are busy enough. Lately I've been having fun just exploring more of the items I've never seen made before, if it fits your PC I'd recommend trying it. ((Shamelessly promotes Valstadoriun worship.)) Kal recently made another new type of Studded Leather and has it in his crafting log, and he has four more types to experiment with!
((BTW, if anybody is looking for some fancy looking Gold Studded Brown Bear Leather Armour It sure is a dashing piece that Kal recently made and styled!!! So bold and heroic looking!!!))
