Whoo. Shout out for the Jester. Looking forward to seeking Vives in 1.69.

I've got three weeks left of class then a nice little break. So I'll be a bit more active shortly.

Good, because I have business with Talion.

I will say no more.

Shoutouts to Jester seconded, although for a different reason. During my recent move from the city to my new rural home (hence my absense), I decided to spend my internet-less time on a new, constructive talent. Yes, thats right - I opened up the Aurora toolset and have actually started playing with the very essense of frustration.

Being a bit of a nerd to the Nth degree, and having a bit of a computer background, I thought this would be a very enjoyable, relaxing task. I love programming. However, after countless hours of cursing, applying new drywall to the fist-sized holes throughout my new lair, and repairing the relationship with my family: I have actually completed a sample tutorial world. I have to say, I am extremely impressed with the way everything finally fit together. I even took it upon myself to duplicate Ruby's Lair - as given to me by Mr. Sprinkles, just so I could say that I could.

So, as a newbie builder to the NWN world - I have to once again stand in awe to everything the Vives Team has done. So, good luck with your updating, Jester! I feel your pain!

-Wicked Hampster

P.S: Hey, be sure to ask if you need any help with some simple yet time consuming fixes. I'd totally be willing to assist if you need it, now that I know how!

Cheers Jester! I'll definitely be back on in a couple weeks, I'm very close to a) depositing my dissertation w/ all revisions completed, and b) a round of job applications following close behind. I'm looking at a very slothful week, second week in December, and some more sloth afterwords.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

Welcome back hugs to Cedrych(Imperious)! Even though I only caught up with you for a bit in the Buchshire Ruins - our RP was hilarious. You silly paladins and your demands! Anyways, it was a riot, hope to eat - erm.. pester you as Ruby again later!

Wow! Simply wow. :)

PDW was always such a star behind the scenes, as well as front and center in game, he did as much as anyone to keep Vives really fun. And now this...I am literally going to drown in nostalgia reading back through all of this stuff!!! :)

Thank you so much, and a huge shoutout to pdw...

Think the link I posted was DM forums only. Unless all can read those forums now? If not and I can figure how might start moving some of the DM threads onto public forums. Just the plot related stuff...be nice to let people see how much went into that side of things! :)

Just depends if plot spoilers about the core story of Vives would be welcome...or would still impact on darker days or anything else?

And yea it's already too late for me, got sucked in...so much to read! :)

Cheers,

Sirac

It was DM only.

There may be some people who'd be concerned about opening up some of the DM forums given the amount of dirty laundry that is still actually there.

Thoughts?

Not sure much point in re-hashing old wounds. But was such a long time ago...not personally all that bothered if just easiest to open them up.

It would maybe surprise some people how vehemently we argued against rp elitism, and to try and keep things friendly, as much as anything else.

But all I meant was to move some DM threads to the player forums. Just things we found to be fun / informative reads.

Just not sure where people stand on learning the big secrets about the old Vives. The nature of gods, magic, the intent of various plots, etc.

Could maybe open a Q&A thread, and anyone who wants to ask anything, I'd be happy to try and answer anything I could and am sure between all the old faces I'm seeing around could cover pretty much any plotline that ran? And then those that still don't want spoilers about the central secrets of Vives could avoid?

Cheers,

Sirac

I think the wuestion is whether we will move the vives darker days stuff to this forum. If we will, we should probably keep some areas closed.

PDW, and Chief how would you feel about moving the conversation at "Beyond Vives" over here?

The downside to using this legacy forum is that we can't really change it. Ideally we could get all of this data into a PHP based forum, and stick it in archives for posterity and carrying on the conversations in the new areas.

Totally your call about that. Just to say, these forums are pretty easy to add different sub forums to. And to archive the old stuff. With different levels of access for general posters, DMs and Admins.

I am up for moving it to the DM forums for sure. Alot of it will be still used with the progression of Darker Days so it actually helps me. I do not have to go through all those insane Ficcy notes she sent me. ;)

I think it'd be better to move it all to a new, php based forum.

The problem with this forum is we cannot change anything. It is tied into qnx rather intimately and requires windows server and we don't have the source code to the forums so we cannot make any changes at all.

If you like, I could set up phpbbs and we can test that.

I have no idea if the vivesdd forums can be exported/imported easily though. Any ideas about that?

Eventually I could find a way to move these forums over to phpbbs, or heck, just leave them running here.,

Actually, some of your ideas occurred to me after I posted this message. I'll make a "Behind the Scenes" forum open to all. Then when we find a thread we think is particularly interesting, like the songbird thread (gosh, I had forgotten all that), we can move it to the new forum if (and only if) there is nothing objectionable in the thread. The songbird thread is a perfect example of what should be shown.

We can have two subforums, the public version, and the one where we nominate threads for opening up. Chief and Hen can decide if there is information in there that they don't want revealed and the rest of us can look to make sure nothing is embarrassing in the thread.

Get enough OK's and I make it public.

How does that sound?

I for one would be HIGHLY curious to see these, and I already know I was spoken about negatively there, but as Sirac says it was a long time ago, and in my opinion would bring a lot of closure, and possibly even heal old wounds

Let the kiddies see :)

Easy PDSmiley

I was told by a few DM's that some of the things I was doing in the Thundering Heart was "rocking the boat". It certainly never upset me, and I would love to see how that conversation went. Call it a "behind the scenes history lesson". I love you "swirling mist" guys and always have, and I am not trying to put a stick in your eye by asking for it, but I would sincerely like to see it. What difference would it make at this point anyway?
