Re: v2-59-9a changes Posted: 10 Apr 2005 04:41 PM |
Mummy dust is the only easily achievable, decent duration, epic summons available, and should not be evil oriented only.
Sean
Should not the epic system have added several more summoning spells? Since something like Mummy dust would not be any harder than anything else to get would it? |

ah, no. It still uses the same mummy dust.
There are some other epic summoning spells, but they also only create big bad evil nasties.

Well, leaving aside the whole "summoning evil creatures is not itself evil" debate if one wishes to look at it in those terms, summoning in itself is not exactly a moral thing to do.
Dragging an Archon from wherever it is (or creating one and letting it go) and enslaving it to do you work is not exactly a very friendly thing to do.
That said it would be nice to see a greater array of summons available. |

Both Elemental Shield and Mestils Acid Sheath are back to round/level
Correct.
It turned out to be too powerful to leave it at 1 turn/level.

Could reversions be reflected in the initial post so casters don't have to wade through all our topic Deviations to find out this information?
Also... Anyway these changes could be bumped/moved to the Essential information thread? These changes do make Vives a much different place than many other servers for some characters.... anyone new to Vives wouldn't even realize the change to their first level Shield and Mage armor spells...
Still loving the Changes though... |

Re: v2-68-3 changes Posted: 15 Jun 2005 07:28 AM |
- darkfire and flame blade changed from adding an onhit cast spell fire effect, to actually adding a bonus to fire damage. it now properly stacks with fire weapons, kill trolls, and some other neat things
(oh, I discovered that those two spells are two turns / level and not 1 hour/level as per the spell description)
- removed the invisibility effect from GS as it seemed to increase the problems with monsters being able to attack through GS

Re: v2-68-3 changes Posted: 15 Jun 2005 08:53 AM |
Wonderful! I know someone who will be rather happy about being able to slay trolls.
On a side note: Is there any way that Magic Circle Against Alignment can be changed to move with the character, instead of being limited to the 10' space in which it is cast? According to the PHB it's a 10' radius emanation, centered on the target, granting the effects of prot from alignment to all those within it. I would assume that this means it stays with the target, even if the target moves. Otherwise, the spell is rather useless. Not many adventurers sit still long enough in any situation (especially combat) to make casting this 3rd level spell worthwhile. I know that (in the PHB) there is an alternative, static method for trapping evil creatures within, but in this context it only serves to re-emphasize the above. |
Do not ask of them questions. You will receive three answers, all of which are true and horrifying to know. |

magical circle against alignment: that is a nwn engine implementation bug and there is nothing that I can do to fix it.
Shame, as that spell would have been one of the most widely used IG.

Actually, I have a feeling they fixed it in the last patch..? Certainly seems to work on other PWs, though I haven't seen it used on Vives.
In any case, even if not fixed, it stays active if you walk, it just couldn't keep up if you ran . |

I've never seen it work.
I tried after the last patch, and even a walk would cause it to disappear on me.

Ok-
As of today, invisibility has stopped working for me altogether. Creatures (without True Seeing, etc.) target and attack as if the spell hadn't even been cast at all.

Nothing has been changed.
Can you provide some specifics to help me reproduce the problem?
Which spell was it?
Where were you when it happened?
What creatures saw you? |

| I think I may have run into this as well, seems to happen if a creature has already targeted you prior to casting Invis. the only time I've had this happen was in gladden hills when one of the trolls on the ledge with the chieftain came through and attacked me while invis'd inside the gladden mine |

a strange spell description... Posted: 15 Jul 2005 02:49 AM |
I was playing as Gnimini the other day, and I became a level 4 wizard. I picked two spells...summon creature IV and Animate Dead. The 'description' for Animate Dead (the 3rd lvl cleric spell / 5th lvl wizard spell, so I thought) seemed to be that of barkskin --saying something of lvl 1-6 gets +3 AC, 7-12 get +4...and so on. When I tried to cast, Animate Dead was successfull. The description, after a logoff and server restarts, still is that of barkskin.
This wasn't really a problem at all, but did seem interesting. Thought it might be a bug, but wasn't sure...so I didn't report it.
Thanks for listening. |
