Very much with Sol on this, I've written on several occasions that Elvalia travels often with a hooded cloak but for obvious reasons never been able to use that IG which imo would be pretty cool.

Personally as another tool I'd love to see it IG. If it is abused by a player, no reason why it can't be resolved at the time in my view. And yes, agree with Veran that it works both ways.

Well, lets assume ONLY thieves...err Rogues, were allowed to have the hooded cloak. Well now everybody IG knows anyone wearing a hooded cloak is a THIEF! Dunno bout you, but I prefer not to know, unless I have figured it out IC in game.

Now it is 99% of the time raining in Port Royal and surrounding areas, Midor has a bit too, though not as much thank the goddess! My char Moon is always complaining that she is 'going to rust' with all the rain. I actually do think that hooded cloaks should be a normal piece of clothing in Vives, and that any class should be able to purchase one. I for one would only wear a cloak WHEN it is raining, or if I were in a really cold place...Icy Vale? but mainly when i am walking about after comming out of PR or the Four Winds Taven and it's peeing down. I also think that most of the vives players would also only ever wear the cloak when it was raining.

I am not saying you won't get the odd person who just wants to wear a cloak all the time, rangers for one may well wear them more often, but that is easily sorted. Provide the means for players to have the claok with a hood, and also just a normal cloak without a hood. (the latter is normally a part of the armour I believe?)

As it stands, the population of Vives should be dead from extreem soggyness, rusted to the spot, and continously sneezing their heads off.

I think what it comes down to is being able to trust that your very decent player base are not suddenly going to start acting like oiks and running about when the sun is blazing down on their heads with a hood on. And anyone who even tries to tell Moon that she does not 'know' them is likely to be kneecapped in a very short, sharp Moon type RP (i don't have time for those types of RP, ever!

Pfft, all this talk about abusing them and being tools... And so forth. I think that's relativly very small thing to worry about being abused by players. It's a computer game, there's always some people that will abuse the sytem to which it was built into.

Cloaks & hoods look good.

IMO (not that it realy matters, but...) that's reason enough to have them.

Nightmare this may be, but it's not a dream.

If a character wants a hood, a character wants a hood. That's all I see it as. Radra wears a hooded robe all the time. It works well for her. She keeps it low over her eyes, and it gives her an air of mystery. Meh, why not? Some people know her name, some don't. But I don't see why a hood and a cloak makes a perfect disguise. After all, there are body frames, builds, facial features, voices, scents and smells, weaponry, etc. to all give away a disguise. Personally, the only really good disguise is a suit of plate and a helm, and a different personality. Even then your height and weight and sex is fairly apparent...

I'd love to have hooded cloaks around, it's one of the things I really miss in Vives. No, they're not a complete disguise, at least not without a pretty high score in Bluff to make it a such. Hoods aren't more of a disguise than a bowler hat and sunglasses IRL. What it is, though, is common (and very useful) traveling gear, some of the stuff that were stated before are only examples - weather, hiding one's elven features in Midor.

I agree that I don't want people abusing it to make it a full disguise and forcing RP, but I'd rather have hoods around and the abusers reprimanded than not have hoods at all, except the lame static hooded head. It just lacks, IMO.

Whether or not they bring them back I would love to figure out what it takes to get a cloak at all! I suppose there are certain types of clothing that must be bought, but I would love it if it were an option when you are customizing your appearance to be able to add a cloak to some of the stuff. I might start using robes a little less then. ;)
