I can confirm that Mestil's Acid Sheath now lasts considerably longer than it used to.
Given how this is by far the best defensive spell IG this is truly awesome.
Thanks PDW |

Unfortunately, they have to hit you for it to do anything useful.
Which is great, unless you dont have a lot of hitpoints.

Tactics and specifics of techniques are to be discussed IG only. Not hinted at in the forums as this is not the place for it.
Thanks.

My apologies.
I had thought I had removed it, but can see it still might have given something away.

Not sure about Mestil's Acid Sheath, seemed to last a while when I used it.
True Seeing however, which is suposed to be 1turn per level appeared to be much closer to 1 round per level. |

I'm pretty sure it worked as normal when I used it GMT daytime yesterday and certainly was ok before that.
So if it only lasted a few minutes for Glor last night, maybe something was changed in between.
Hope that helps identify the problem.

It is not a problem, it is an intentional change, it was too overpowered, so was changed back.
Sorry pdw has been real busy as usual doing a 101 things for Vives, so probably didnt get the chance to post that he was changing it back.

What!! Thats outrageous. It really is only a very minor spell!!! Honest!! *grins*
In truth I said exactly that to Carlton following the change. The time limit is the only thing which makes it IMHO a spell not of the Epic Class, and extending it made it very very powerful.
Shame though. Means I have to keep casting!!
Glad I didnt find out the hard way. |

Correct.
It turned out to be too powerful to leave it at 1 turn/level.

I have a request about undead spells, is it possible to make them non undead like goloms or somthing as it means that all good and nutural characters will get access to more spells

customized summons is on my list - don't know when I will get to it though as it is rather far down the list at the moment.

Whilst some of these should definitely apply, some should not. Animate dead and create greater undead definitely should not be changed. You are either the type of character that would cast them or you are not. I personally would love to see a small evil shift any time they are cast.
Gate already has been altered, if you can find the people IG to teach you.
But yes, things like epic mummy dust, dragon knight, etc I would love to see changed, as they are one off epic spells that should be open to all alignments.

Why should Mummy Dust be changed? It's just the same as create undead, but more powerful.

Re: v2-59-9a changes Posted: 10 Apr 2005 01:45 PM |
Because all the epic summon spells summon an evil creature...and there should be other alignment variants. So I would prefer to see it become a "champion" spell rather than an undead summoning spell.
That is already how at least 2 epic mages I know rp it also.

Re: v2-59-9a changes Posted: 10 Apr 2005 01:56 PM |
I'd rather see Dragon Knight changed, but Mummy Dust left.
However, I imagine that the reason epic summoning spells are evil slanted is that it's hard to find anything better than a Throne Archon or Elemental to summon which isn't evil. 'cos most immortal stuff, the only stuff better, is...well.... evil.

Re: v2-59-9a changes Posted: 10 Apr 2005 02:05 PM |
adding "champion" spells requires adding new spells to the mod
possible, bit it takes some work to edit the tlk files, and other related 2da files. This typically only happens during a patch.
changing a spell (such as mummy dust) can be done anytime basically
Thus, it is easier and faster to do the latter than the former

Re: v2-59-9a changes Posted: 10 Apr 2005 02:11 PM |
Think you've misunderstood man, want epic mummy dust to remain as is, but just change the appearance of the creature summoned, so it is not undead.
Mummy dust is the only easily achievable, decent duration, epic summons available, and should not be evil oriented only.
