Yeah Akril is the man Akril is the man.... hey wait. You mean that in a bad way dont you!!!!
Its not my fault!!! dang bloody robes didnt work. I clicked and stood their waiting for time to stop, me to go invisible and a lovely little green thing to glow around me.
Instead Quin just stood their thinking "Any second now. Yup just a little while more. Almost done."
Next thing he knew lights went out. |

| Same thing happened to Bereil last night. Apparently the sequencer doesn't work quite so well in combat... |

Sequencer Robes Posted: 02 Mar 2005 08:15 AM |
just a small point.
in the 2-57-5 update, I've changed sequencer robes so that you can only release spells that you know how to use; i.e. wizards and sorcerers can release arcane spells, clerics and druids can only release divine spells.
On the plus side, the robes will now release the spells according to your current level.

| erm whats the point? I mean the whole good thing about them was that you could ask a nice cleric to put in heal or somthing if you were a Mage and a cleric could ask for time stop? |

Re: Sequencer Robes Posted: 02 Mar 2005 08:24 AM |
| The point is that now the spells will work at the level the caster cast them in the robe. For instance a GS only lasted 10' or so with Xaranthir while it should last 21'. At least now spells will function as they should and not at the minimum level you cast them. ;) |

Re: Sequencer Robes Posted: 02 Mar 2005 08:26 AM |
But what if you arn't at the minimum level to cast them at, and enchanted them with a scroll, which is a perfectly legitimate use of the robes. Then you loose out.

and allowing everyone to have timestop is ..well, a bit much. They were so powerful, that I debated about taking them out of the game.
This is a nice compromise. |

Then, it should still work.
Give it a test and let me know.

Re: Sequencer Robes Posted: 02 Mar 2005 08:31 AM |
Yes they were too powerful before and also made clerics and mages redundant to a certain extent. i.e. Fighter gets his friendly cleric to cast deathward and heal into a robe and all of a sudden he can go anywhere (almost). It really prevents teaming up and unbalances what is supposed to be a low-magic world.
This compromise is much better .

This is a low magic world and there is plenty of armour IG for all classes that is suitable. Can you be more specific? |

You don't have to be level 20 to wear sequencer robes. Nor is the AC bonus any better than the white mage robes or the greater ka'azim robes. It's +3 and for all I care they give no AC at all. *shrugs* |

Again, we are now drifting off topic.
If you have a specific issue with items, please PM the DM's.

To get back on target, isent it great when you go to fight a lich, win, something bad happens and your forced to wait at the area for awhile, only to have the lich not respawn, but appear fully ready and pissed about being killed? *Chuckles* I sure thought so. What oh what would we do if we did not have the DM's to taunt us in our mortality. |

<clap><clap><clap><clap><clap>
Just a little round of applause for the DM team for doing the things that they do. I've been here a little longer now than when I first posted my appreciation of DM intervention, and I've seen a fair bit more of it now. The restructuring of Paws, the DM events that I've participated in, the tiny little snippets of sudden one-off conversation from npcs, the insane violent killing, the fairness and enjoyability of it all...
It really is a living breathing world. Considering that there's no subscription fees (like WOW or Evercrack) we are truely lucky to have such a thing as good as Vives.
Since starting here I have persuaded at least one friend to join us and start playing, and have told many many people about it. Hopefully, some more of them will join us. It is definately the DM stuff which sets us appart and, big or small, their input makes a difference.
Nu'men in Netharu, the Priest Lich in the Gukathul temple, Vestilliax (SP?) on the great river, etc. etc. etc. all give massive, bold, in-your-face experiences. Not just from a 'causing you to die horribly' perspective, but also in a bargaining for your life, swapping stories, making trades, making pacts, talk-first-die-later kind of way. And all the little urchins, wagon drivers, guards, fish wives, temple priests, etc. etc. etc. for often suprising little comments.
Cheers guys! |

Re: Ref's taking control Posted: 18 Apr 2005 11:25 AM |
Just to add to this (as I always do) Ref's taking control has also (for me) created an environment of trepidation and sometimes them not taking control is scarier than when they do.
Take for example yesterday when Calia and Quin visited the White Dragon cave, we went totally prepared on what we perceived to be the inveitably likelihood of DM control, I even used an artifact's charge to summon aid (which i never do) and when we killed two old dragons, we both wet ourselves. Why? Because it meant there was clearly a bigger badder one blocking our retreat. Carlton was shaking and I was severely panicking.
It might be that the DMs didnt even know we were there, but the sheer anticipation that they probably did was enough to make us incredibly scared and react appropriately.
So kudos to the DMs.
And Im all in favour of their use of "not taking control" to create these feelings *grins with wishful thinking* |

oooooh sooo scary but the funnyest bit was when Calia ran over to look into a barrel not seeing the two Balor demons that were there and looked around said hello as they both died and Quin said You can help if you want
