Starter Character Question

| Where is it that the characters start? I was writting up my history and wanted to put some correct verbage? starting city in any etc...
Is it best to post the history some place to have a DM review/okay it?
Looking at the religions I was going towards a Cleric of Theus.

| Hello and well met all,
I was at work taking a break and found vives. I am looking forward to playing, though unfortunately I have to finish work first. With any luck and the cooperation from my kids I will have the handbook read and be able to play tomorrow.
If anyone has any tips or suggestion for character creation please let me know.
