| 1. | Re: Port Royale's First Ever Winter Ball Posted by Pugs on 1/24/2004 7:20:20 AM While I'm sure there will be many more balls in the future... this one, alas, has already taken place. |
| 2. | Re: Port Royale's First Ever Winter Ball Posted by Pugs on 1/24/2004 8:46:49 AM Well it was origionally posted back in Nov 2003. And I thought that was that time we went to that big undead castle and had to hunt for the witch. And the first person to kill her got a prize, and I think two people won it.
That PR lord dude (Lord Davidan or something like that) said he was taking us to a dance... but he was naughty and took us to the castle instead. The was a big evil Shadow dragon and LOADS AND LOADS AND LOADS OF LAG.
I believe I racked up 7 or 8 of ... |

| 5. | Re: Philosophy Posted by Pugs on 12/11/2003 9:01:41 AM I think this is more a question of your perspective on life. Some people see the beauty and amazing complexity of things like trees, animals, planets etc and can see god in the ultimate design of such things. Others take a more logical, reasonable view and look for evidence like evolution, physical laws and how the history of religion holds up against such things. Both views are equally valid.
My main thoughts on this subject are: 1. Nobody can prove the existence or ... |
| 6. | Re: Philosophy Posted by Pugs on 12/11/2003 9:04:37 PM Strong belief also led to things like the Jihad's and Spanish Inquisition and suppression of scientific research. Granted, the Jihad's might have happened anyway, due simply to human nature. |
| 7. | Re: Who is your character like (From books/movies/real life)? Posted by Pugs on 5/30/2006 9:27:27 PM Cantor Matriel
I watched Babylon 5 recently and was really struck by the similarities between Cantor and Bester (the psi-cop). Both characters are generally considered "bad guys" but both see themselves simply as willing to do anything to put themselves and the society the represent (Cantor - humans) (Bester - psychics) ahead. Both characters are people who prefer to work behind the scenes but aren't afraid of getting their own hands dirty when others can't be relied ... |
| 8. | Re: Q&A Posted by Pugs on 7/14/2013 10:12:51 AM Thanks for putting the forums back up and reminding me of their existence PD.
I was just thinking the other day that there still hasn't been a roleplaying experience the like of the old NwN Vives module. My PnP group are more hack'n'slash style players.
I wonder if my shop's still there in Port Royal, taunting newbies with its glittering prizes? Or maybe they're not the top tier items they used to be all those years ago.
Good to see the community's still here ... |
| 9. | Re: The List Posted by Pugs on 5/29/2005 12:50:46 AM Permission granted. Cantor Matriel. |
| 10. | Re: Welcome New Folks! Posted by Pugs on 7/27/2005 6:36:28 AM Welcome. If you need anything.. anything at all.. just find Cantor. He'll hook you up... for a price. |
| 11. | Re: Welcome New Folks! Posted by Pugs on 10/10/2004 6:26:05 AM Welcome Glor-an-Fhaidha and Red Forest. You're right... all the PCs in Vives are nice, friendly peaceloving guys and girls. The DM's on the other hand are EVIL TO THE CORE! If you find out one is logged in... just logout IMMEDIATELY! It's the only way to keep your character alive. |
| 12. | Re: Welcome New Folks! Posted by Pugs on 6/11/2004 8:33:45 AM Welcome all recent additions. Hope to meet you IG soon.
As for good starting locations, you can pick up your first comple of levels just by exploring cities, but for fighting, there's a little cave north then east of the inn of the four winds (where you start). There's another cave just outside the east gate of Port Royal and after you've picked up a couple of levs theres a few areas south of the ... |
| 13. | Re: Welcome New Folks! Posted by Pugs on 9/25/2004 10:56:29 AM WOOOOT! Another Aussie timezoner! All that propaganda I've been spreading must be starting to pay off. YAY!
On a completely different note... Welcome :) |
| 14. | Re: Welcome New Folks! Posted by Pugs on 9/28/2004 11:30:22 PM Welcome Aranel. You almost slipped in unnoticed with the hoard of new players we've been inunndated with lately. Hope to meet one of your chars IG soon. Might have met Ezekial... not sure. |
| 15. | Re: Some ideas upon returning to Vives.... Posted by Pugs on 7/23/2005 8:43:53 PM Everytime I come back to Vives, I play for a bit and then I get sick of it for one reason. I HATE spending the majority of my time, walking. I log into Vives for one reason these days... to roleplay. If there are a few people IG I'll log in as long as I can get to them within 10 minutes. This means they have to be somewhere near PR or Buckshire. If they're not, I don't even bother to log in.
I know I've mentioned this before, but we need a better transport system. Screw the ... |
| 16. | Re: Some ideas upon returning to Vives.... Posted by Pugs on 7/25/2005 8:01:00 AM I agree Sirac. I've been logging in with Cantor whenever I sit down to read or check the forums and just alt-tab every now and again to see if anybody's shown up at my shop. But if we fix annoying things like the travel system, then people are much more likely to log in and travel across the world for a little RP.
Also, and this was mentioned by Imperious and reminded me of something I've been meaning to mention for a while now.
Back... eons ago now... we were debating ... |
| 17. | Re: Some ideas upon returning to Vives.... Posted by Pugs on 7/25/2005 9:45:34 AM I was not attacking you pd. I was regretting that we ever allowed chars to go above lev 20 that's all. I was not laying responsibility for it at your feet, so please don't take it personally. When/if we ever move to NWN2 limiting the level might be worth considering.
As for level not having any impact that's bs and you know it. You yourself have said that it can be a hastle for DMs to keep coming up with ways of getting Luther out of the picture so that his presence doesn't ... |
| 18. | Re: Vives Personals Posted by Pugs on 11/22/2004 7:58:25 AM Cantor Matriel
Cantor Matriel is a name well known to merchants and adventurers in Port Royal for the quality of his stock of powerful magical items, and the high prices he charges for them. Cantor has accumulated wealth beyond that of most people's dreams and by all appearences takes enjoyment in flaunting it. But appearences are not always what they seem and Cantor's behaviour sometimes seems contradictory.
Usually polite, Cantor's eyes gleam with suppressed ... |

| 21. | Re: Vives II Suggestions Posted by Pugs on 8/7/2007 2:32:00 AM Ye gods. At this rate I may as well load old NWN1 back onto my computer in order to get my Vives fix. |
| 22. | Re: Which D&D type are you Posted by Pugs on 11/28/2006 6:00:08 AM Chaotic Good Half-Elf Bard
Alignment: Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.
Race: Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is ... |
| 23. | Re: This isn't looking good... Posted by Pugs on 11/19/2006 11:24:35 PM I have one major gripe with this game and I'm talking MAJOR gripe, not enough for me to send the game back but close.
Gnomes. Upon meeting these miserable excuses for beings in the OC there should ALWAYS (there is sometimes but it's not enough) be the option of yelling "Arrrgh! It's another bleedin' gnome! Quickly! Kill it before it can open it's mouth!" And then, upon killing said sighted gnome, the entire party should have their own personalised version of: ... |
| 24. | Re: The beta patch 1.03 is out, if you're into that sort of thing Posted by Pugs on 11/26/2006 7:05:28 PM After dling this patch I noticed that druids have a few extra spells. (I'm planning a druid for Vives 2) However, at least 2 of these new spells don't do anything like what the spell description says. Storm avatar is supposed to grant me an extra 3-18 lightning dmg per melee hit and so far it's granted me +2, +1d4, +1d6 and +1d8 dmg. Even then it doesn't even trigger every hit and applies to some elemental/wild shapes but not others. Hmmm...
Tortise shell is supposed to grant ... |
| 25. | Re: The State of PW's and Their Evolution Posted by Pugs on 11/14/2006 8:23:11 PM I love Vives, and I think we'd be making a mistake to depart too far from the formula that made it so much fun. However, there are a couple of things that can be improved upon I think.
1. I believe that Vives1 got a little bit too big. It's nice having so much area to explore but annoying to log into the game and see that the only other players online are on the other side of the world and it's going to take you at least 15 minutes of running/waiting around for boats to reach ... |
