1.Re: HakPak Requests
Posted by MattRuss on 10/22/2003 4:46:22 AM
after playing around on the net i ran into somthing i thought looked pretty dang cool, a sky. since everybody now uses some form of camera hak be it the built in one or the downloadable one, there is a need for a sky. just haveing the grayish background realy kinda kills all the nice effects in the game, there might be some great looking new trees or buildings but when under the bleak gray well just looks bad. i dont know how much trouble adding this would be, but if you could it would make all ...

well this yalls server to do what ever you want to with. if the creaters disire to give everybody rocket launchers then fine as a dm its your right. this game is based on D&D, the game that is nothing but role playing. the phrase role play i bet when asked the first thing that comes to mind is D&D. many people today prefer a faster pace and more action thus we have games like quake which is great also, but the harder you push away from D&D the closer you are to quake. which hey like ...

it seems to be ok for a paly to get away with murder if he is willing to pay a few hundred gold to buy his soul back. why not let it be possible for a paly to get away unscaved from a little burglary, only if a dm doesnt happen to see it.

just wondering where people got the idea that mages couldnt open locks or at least shouldnt.
5.Re: Class redundancy?
Posted by MattRuss on 3/1/2004 6:01:23 PM
you want to balance things out, then go by the book. a pixy isnt exactly a regular familair option, i realy cant see a dm allowing that in there. while thats changed how about the fact that a halfing can wear fullplate and run with no movement speed adjustments. how about most of the wizard spells require range attacks to hit, making casters alot less effective. fighters are made a lot less effective because the plate slows them down, along with the time it takes to put it on.

why ...

making pvp unrestricted is begging for disaster and a great deal of future headaches.

it is completly ooc to defend yourself from a unknown attacker with subdual damage just because you think they are using it. how can it be ic to just assume that sombody attacking you is only going to take you to 1 hp instead of killing you.

having both wizard and cleric chars im going to allready state that if attacked i will defend myself the way in which gives me the best chance of ...

i cant imagine why a paladin would not have it. thats part of being a paladin.

with exception of course to vandles pie detecter, why change detect evil. this is somthing that should be in the game. i cant figure why bioware did not add this to nwn, however if it is somthing that can be added by the makers of vives then it should be. if detect evil is to be added why deviate from D&D rules.

To the Queen of the Port City

It is no secrete that controll over this city is slipping to thugs and criminals. It is rumoured that the officials know and do nothing about it. Perhaps rumoures are true and you will throw this mesage in the trash, or perhaps you will do the right thing. The answer to this will be clear very soon as to what action you take next. I send you this to inform you of the death of two children in your streets only yesterday, i ask you to see justice done.

the biggest prob i have with the system now is that your allignment can be changed by another person on the other side of the island. some people may not care about there law/chaos, i do. i have yet to lose a single point with neb, i know that i will some day and i am sure i will not be anywhere near the peson that robbed sombody. i have lost points with other chars simply because i was in a party just before an adventure and had to step away from the keyboard for two mins, while one spent ...

well it finaly friggen happened. whatching pick bringing constructs out just to kill them i was destracted for a few mins while me and chandler attacked, i forgot to leave the party. its getting ridiculas having to leave the party every time somebody leaves your sight. so here i am partyed with a thief which was on the other side of the known world to me while and i lose an chaos law point. this is the first point i have ever lost, and i the char i made is the one i wish to play so losing a ...

ok first off me and the thief couldnt have been further away, me in the port plaza him in midor. so this is completly ooc action affecting a ic response, ic we was not exactly together.

for the zero impact on gameplay, i am not playing a thief and do not wish to lose points for things i didnt steal. when i made this char i made him lawfull good and thats what i wanted to play. i just hate the fact that i am not breaking the law and i am taking the penalties for it. an impact on ...

the thing i keep hearing is to be carefull who you party with, so stayaway from anybody you think might be a bad person. i do not see any point if this is going to be a single player game. it is my wish to play a lawfull good char, thats why i made the char the way i did. if i am to be treated like a thief then i will become one, i see no reason not to start being rewarded for it. however i wouldnt be asking to be restored if i wanted to play a thief.

so the notion of rp is what exactly. just wondering since this is a rp server isnt it.
15.Re: Alignment modification
Posted by MattRuss on 1/29/2004 6:26:46 PM
great thats all i wanted, it happend to neb larson and one law/chaos point was lost.

this was posted because i was asked to do so. if your chars alignment is not going to be decided by you actions then its not exactly an alignment. if alignment isnt going to be rped, then whats the point of having it to start with.

there are the rules that the creaters have placed that are in conflict, if we are to ignore somthing then state it.

when would you be in a party and seperated. its easy when you just come back to town after an adventure and while you are distracted a party member runs off to kusin, then to midor.

i think that more detailed character statistics would prove to be usefull in future cases of debates and discussions. it would a the very least show to be very interesting from time to time. the whole privacy thing is pointless to start with, anyone who logs on knows all.
18.Re: Wishlist: Website Feature Requests
Posted by MattRuss on 1/20/2004 6:30:37 AM
actually you do see everything, there lvls in any class they are. any who logs on to the server know everything about a players class.

next time you log onto vives or anyserver for that matter you can check it out. when you first log on and still in the stage of picking your character to play just click the player information tab beside the server information tab. there you will see all the players names with there class or classes along with there lvl or lvls in each class.

its only about interesting statistics, kinda like the dirtnap league. how does the dirtnap league improve rp or motivate certain classes?

i just think that if such a thing was easy to incorporate (which i figure its not so it dont realy matter) that it would at some point in time yeild valuable information.

just sombodys idea that i think is worth a thought

speaking of statistics, i would like to see a graph of how much gold has been given to kusin.

25.Re: Character Clean up?

"Another con is that it would not -nothing- to improve RP. Sorry, but it wouldn't. You can RP just as well with a lvl 20 at lvl 1 as you can with another lvl 1. So from the point of view of RP, I don't see the point of one."

ok this may sound like sarcasm but it is not my intention. you realy dont think, honestly now that if every player on the server absolutly had to not just suggested to but had to work together at all times to survive that it would do nothing for rp.
