1.Re: HakPak Requests
Posted by Landru on 1/16/2004 2:26:04 PM
Brandon has stated that he most likely will not do another camera hak, as the HotU expansion has essentially made it impossible for him to do the same things he used to do.

Regarding the fog, it is indeed a bit oppressive, but to go and adjust it in each area is going to be a massive task.

Fog is good, in moderation. some areas should have more than others. But, I would not expect to see 10m fog indoors. ;P

The cam hak is more better... don't have to keep setting that crap, and also allows you to change the perspective to one that's appropriate for the height of your char. If you haven't checked out Brandon's camera hak, I highly recommend it.

Welcome Malbortus!

Some insight on the environment in Vives...

While we do emphasize RP, there is certainly plenty of action to be found in Vives! I think the intent of the heavy emphasis is to set the expectation that players will likely never reach maximum level, (lvl 13-15 chars are considered pretty "uber" here) and certainly if one is out for speedy levelling/powergaming type stuff, this probably is not the place.

Other than that, Vives is what ...

Welcome all you new arrivals! I'm sure you'll find, as I have, that RPing here is a step above what you've seen elsewhere. It's a great place to play! I look forward to sharing it with you!

Writing a book require creating it in the toolset, and then saving it as an ERF so that it can be added to the mod. You'd have to send it to one of the builders. Ask around in irc or send a PM to all DMs to ask for an email address.

As far as posting notes on the bulletin boards, you need a parchment, which you can get at many merchants. You "write" on it by "using" it, then you can put it on the bulletin board.

Hope you continue to enjoy Vives!

Another little tidbit to go along with Fen's advice...

It's quite possible to advance a couple of levels without ever having to fight... I'd recommend exploring as much as possible carefully, before venturing out into the great unknown...

As Fen alluded to above, good RP is also rewarded, so theoretically you could advance a character withut ever leaving a city!

62. You've asked for an Ale at the bar

I don't know about anyone else, but I've been asking for an Ale at the bar since I've been old enough to be served. Though I suppose thats a byproduct of my brew of choice being called 'Traditional Ale'.

wait... I thought the byproduct of your brew of choice was... well, never mind :P

16.DMs: Chief
Posted by Landru on 4/11/2004 10:57:36 AM
The next person I'd like for us to talk to as a DM candidate is Chief. He's been around forever, as long as most of us, and has contributed good characters to the server. The whole PAJWT storyline has been pretty much DM work without the title, and he's done a find job of it. He's a pretty level guy, and I think he'd make a good choice. I'm going to set up an interview for him, and let's see how he comes out.

Phoenix is a tad too involved in PF's world for my taste, frankly, but I have thought of him in the past as well.

mmkay...

Lytton, did you talk with Chief? What was his response?

All I'll say is this: Let they who are without sin cast the first stones. People change, especially when they see the road clearly in front of them. I'm not gonna start a big pissing contest over this, but I still think he could be good.

Well, I've been thinking about just this.

I'd say we need to hold off on adding more DMs for a few weeks, at least. Otherwise, chaos is going to ensue.

We have a good core, I don't think any timezones are suffering, and i honestly don"t want to dilute the player base of strong roleplayers either.

Let's set Chief and others on the shelf for a little while.
