1.Re: Shoutouts
Posted by Kalos on 12/1/2006 10:30:13 AM
Just wanted to give a shoutout to Roland Fellsbane who was kind enough to lead Ashen and Josaphine on a dangerous expedition last night. I had to clean off my computer chair after I almost witnessed Roland being felled by a "noble" salamander. I know that if he had fallen Ashen and Josaphine surely would have perished as well...as even if we had escaped that volcano, we never would have made it back to civilization in one piece.

( Besides, I didn't even know where ...

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Emma, Sylune, and Father for a fun expedition into the swamp around Tanglewood; Even though we never found that hound it was a lot of fun.

There is nothing Kelderak likes better than travelling amongst an "animal army", except maybe providing "manly" support for a friendly farmer girl from Paws...

I do not get to travel in a group very often, but when I do it reminds me why I play here. The roleplay and comraderie is ...

Wow..*catches breath* Massive shoutouts to Snooty (Emma) and Kalos (Dante) for some of the most intense combat and breath-taking near misses I can remember....three combats in a row we were all down -- at one point or another -- to nearly single digits hp, and somewhow managed to survive. I still don't know how Dante was stunned in front of the snake at about 4 hp for what seemed like forever and still walked out...Nice teamwork, great ...

I think that's midnight here on the East Coast. This might be the first event I'd be able to attend....Ya!

The wife and kids should be asleep by then...wuhahahaha......

This sounds like a great idea. Tuesday 10 PM EST is typically a good time for me and I will try to make it as often as I can.

No complaining from me. Take as long as is needed....I still need to find a way to purchase a computer capable of playing NWN2. So please, take your time.

I know that I get the cold sweats any time I come close to dying in Vives, and when I do actually die, I fall over in my chair or launch my keyboard across the roomWink So I would agree with Arathon's comment that "the threat of XP loss in Vives does make people fairly serious about death". I do not get a lot time to play which in turn makes the XP penalty very harsh for me as I may lose a month+ of ...

And then there have been times when I am focused on the XP, and getting to the next level so I can use that new set of armor that I just bought... or to get that new feat... or whatever it is that makes me slip into levelitis mode instead of just "becoming" my character.

And thats usually when I start taking those dumb chances... or worse.. doing things that are out of character for my PC, just to get the XP.

When it comes to experience loss, I strongly feel that is should remain unchanged. As I am a player who is on infrequently and often times not on when DM's are, I don't think RP'ers who gain experience from DM's should be immune to the effects of dying.

I do not build my characters as power-gamers by any stretch. I come up with a character concept and then create the character accordingly. The truth is, some characters are just not meant to be tromping through the wilderness ...

This forum is great. Not only has it produced some great suggestions thus far, but it has also served to show me just how little of the Vives world I have seen. Some of the names of places being thrown around here I have never even heard of....

As for suggestions, I just wanted to say that I agree that the crafting system could be improved. I think that the really good stuff should only be available from a master crafter and I think it would be nice if the crafter could name ...

I enjoy playing on Vives, but I get disappointed because every time I go to log on there is only between 0-2 people in-game. Is there anyway to advertise the great world that is Vives to the masses? Maybe "re-launch" the server on NWVault or something? I am also one of those believers who does not feel that you need 30+ people on all the time, but the reason I play NWN online is too roleplay and have player interaction. That is extremely tough to do without others.

13.Custom Portrait

Hello All!

As I am new to Vives and do not know if there is an updated portrait pak, I have posted my portraits here.

This is the link to the Portrait for Thunder (Half-Orc, Monk):

This is the portrait for Detric Steel (Human, Ranger)

I don't know as I've never heard it before. We had an intern at work that everyone called Deter (shortcut of his last name) and I kinda worked with that.

LOL...You have no idea how long I've been trying to find that portrait to post here, as it is the one I use for my character Krow, an elven fighter.

I have it in in my portrait directory, but I can't look at it (see my TGA forum thread) and I don't know where I got it from....LOL

So in short. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.

Please don't trash a concept on account of us using the same portrait, as I don't get to play that much anyway....We could be twins ;)

I am a Heroes fan as well. It's nice to see a "new" or at least "different" type of show on television. It is the only show that I actually try to watch every week. Well, besides Sopranos, although if the episodes do not get better quickly this one will drop of my short list of 2 shows that I watch regularly.

Chaotic Good Human Fighter.

Interesting as I am currently playing one in Vives...as well as a few others ;)

I agree wholeheartedly with Phoenix. There have been plently of games I would have loved to play (Star Wars Galaxies, and D&D Online to name two), but I dislike the idea of paying $10/month to play a game. NWN has been the best gaming investment I have ever made thanks to the individuals who created, and play Vives (and also a few cheers for the individuals who created Neverwinter Connections while I'm at it.)
23.Re: Survey on wisdom
Posted by Kalos on 3/22/2007 4:59:32 PM
Similiar to what others have already stated, I view Intelligence as "book smarts" and I see Wisdom more along the lines of "common sense".

Therefore a high intelligence character might know all the ins and outs of the fireball spell, but possessing low wisdow does not utilize effectively in combat (i.e. casting it into a small room with his in the doorway).
24.Re: Can you play NWN2?
Posted by Kalos on 11/1/2006 9:53:20 AM
I doubt I will be able to play NWN 2. I meet the minimum specs except that my 128mb GeForce Video Card is not on the list :(

That's ok, because I just recently re-installed NWN on a "newer" PC and I can finally play with all the extras turned on (Yea!) and I'm back on Vives!

Who needs NWN 2. Maybe I'll buy in in a couple years after everyone has had a chance to create some great content for it.
25.Video Cards
Posted by Kalos on 12/7/2006 10:02:07 AM
I currently running a 2.0 Ghz machine and was wondering if adding an updated video card would allow me to run NWN2, and if so what is a resonable card to purchase on a limited budget?

Also, is there a time frame for when Vives will be converting to Vives2, because I really don't plan on buying NWN2 or a new video card until that happens... This is the only place I play the only game on my computer.

Thank you.
