1.Re: Favorite Vives moments?
Posted by Imperious on 1/22/2010 12:44:29 PM
I finally removed 1.68 from my computer because I needed the space so I doubt I'll be back any time soon, sadly enough. Not like I have time to play much anymore these days...

So many great moments on Vives. However, for my money, the Midoran plot is one of the finest/most intricate/most interesting plots I've ever run across in any server. Probably the reason I've never stayed incredibly long on any other server is that I've never found anything that came close to duplicating ...

...standing up to Vidus Khain in his office

If I recall correctly, I believe the more accurate description would be "being five seconds away from dying in Vidus Khain's office"

Been on Vives since May of last year, and I can't remember when there's so much great writing and posting on the website...

I've been completely swamped at work for the past week or so, and probably won't be able to get on much until February. But it's been a pleasure to read about all the storylines going on right now, and a nice way to keep in touch with what's going on in IG...of course, it's also makes me insanely F@$@#$@# jealous that I don't have the time to play...

Despite the exhaustion, gotta do this now so I can remember everything clearly:

Thanks to Lucius, Macha and Rosen for some terrific RP tonight:

Lucius -- it's been great to see your character actually grow and evolve, and your journal is great...keep it up.

Macha, thanks for proving that you can have an understated and relatively quiet (or maybe I just haven't been around her enough??), but still complex and fascinating character, and that listening in NWN is an ...

Not to pile on (too late), but yeah, big shoutout to Xaranthir, etc. for the wackiness...to GMs for their typical general evilness (Evility? Evilosity?)...and to Ulalume and Rosen for being the perfect straight men (women, knights, etc)...Since Ced is typically so dang serious all the time, it was nice to go over the top...

By the way, Phoenix, I think my Purple Paladin Shuffle is infiintely superior to the Purple Badger Boogie...a dance-off may be needed!!!

A couple of really good conversations made me realize I haven't shouted out lately, so here goes:

-- to T'mok or Timik, great stuff talking with Ced...your character's kinda a pain in the butt (which I like), is dramatic (which I like) and sticks to his guns (which I really like)...glad we got a chance to speak at length.....

-- to Vulpina, for the nice "breaking the ice" conversation a few nights back, although I think we're talking about an iceberg here....very ...

Major shoutouts to those who hung in there for the "rescue" tonight, despite some really bad lagging....Lucius, Yggs, Vrodo, Ayreon (ack, spelling?), Karlina, Allan....good stuff, good party dynamics....always a fun time when the number of bodies you're carrying equals the number of people still alive in the party (5)....

Shoutouts to Ophelia, who absolutely infuriates Cedrcyh (though he'd never show it) everytime they talk....when will that @#$@#$# half-orc get some common sense and just listen to him!?!?! ;)

And Shoutouts to everyone who was in IRC while we waited in vain for Cecil to get working. What better way to kill the hours waiting to play Vives than by shooting the breeze with your fellow players and evil GMs?

Rob, I hope the cake turned out okay, even with the bugs.

I didn't want to clutter her recent "That's All Folks" post, but huge shoutouts to Marlena for the play, or rather just Act I...

My first reaction was "holy @@$@#$@#$@# cr@#$@#$@#$p!!!!!" ....amazing work...I bow to your efforts and dedication....

Shoutouts to all ya'll that I've gotten a chance to meet since Ced has returned. I've really enjoyed getting to know you (or in some cases, re-know) and having some great RP.

This includes, but by no means limited to, Tristian, Emma, Shard, Luther, Byron, Fenn, Sylune, Ophelia, Cora...bah, even Frie'l. Plus, I know there are many whom I'll probably never get to know well as Cedrych, but it's fun to interact with nevertheless....maybe one day Bel and Ced will talk, but I'm not ...

Wow..*catches breath* Massive shoutouts to Snooty (Emma) and Kalos (Dante) for some of the most intense combat and breath-taking near misses I can remember....three combats in a row we were all down -- at one point or another -- to nearly single digits hp, and somewhow managed to survive. I still don't know how Dante was stunned in front of the snake at about 4 hp for what seemed like forever and still walked out...Nice teamwork, great stuff....

And a big shoutout to Byron, whose ...

LOL....couldn't you just feel the tension!?!?!?!

Many thanks to renter, Tasra, Hene, DSM and Talos. That was a lot of fun. Conversation in the inn and at the gazebo had me laughing out loud!!! Can't wait to hear the story of the first gazebo, Renter...I think!

I think at least four of us are in for Friday, and everyone is still very much welcome to join, assuming you can put up with a preening wizard, an old paladin who only wants to nap, the filthiest gnome in the world, ...

I'm late to the party, but it was a lot of fun, so many thanks to Game Warden for setting it all up. Despite all the behind-the-scenes bloopers, I thought the whole thing ran very smoothly and it was tough to notice any of the problems. Once or twice there was a short delay, but I figured you were just talking with one of the other PCs, so I chalked it up to just part of what happens when you're running an adventure. So, all in all, extremely well done, and thanks.

And hats off to ...

"When writing a novel, change the word 'very' with the word 'dang.' When your editor looks through your work, he will remove those words and everything will be as it should."

LOL....that is the best piece of advice for writing I've heard in a while...I will remember that one (and use it) for a long time.

Sure. Now that I've removed all the Vives haks, you go and upgrade!Wink

Sounds fun. I think Vives in 1.69 living color and Dolby sound would be a sight to see.

I loved Gamma World....sorry, GAMMA WORLD...enough that I'm still on a Wizards of the Coast list-serv about it. And the timing of this post is interesting in that apparently there will be a 4th Edition version of GW coming out...just announced last week.

Of course, since it's 4E, it will be nothing like the original version/box/cover, which to my mind ranks up with the blue box D&D version as the best covers of all time. And the great picture of the mutated rabbits (Hoops? they ...
18.No application/kicked out
Posted by Imperious on 11/27/2009 6:23:30 PM
So I went on as Cedrych for the first time in a while. A couple of strange things happened. First I got 100 xp for just getting on to the server. Didn't look like a typical area xp reward.

Then it kicked me off after a while for not having an application approved by the staff. Any chance I could get my old app aproved again, or whatever needs to happen?

thanks.

Posted by Imperious on 10/3/2009 11:57:45 PM
So....my new halforc is strolling around P.R. Two very nice guardsman seem to be guarding the gate between the docks and the city proper. But you talk to them and they say "Oh, sorry, sorry, we were just taking a break...we'll get right back to work."

I assume they are/were part of the "find the off-duty guardsmen" quest, but given they were by the gate and very impressively looking like actual guards, I think they're getting short shrift! Or, if they're not, ...
