In need of rest, solid rations, and healing, I ran off to town. While there, I thought I would visit the market where I could pay a vendor to identify my newly acquired ring. Unfortunately, the vendor did not have this service available. So off I went to the next vendor, who also didn't give the identify option. I think they wanted us to use each other's characters for the purpose. There are a number of people walking around who might ID items for you, generally for free. Oh, and also you can find Potions of Lore on small humanoids sometimes (hint-hint).
