1.Re: Vives 2
Posted by Clarkycat on 4/22/2006 3:49:26 PM
I'm glad to see that Vives 1 will be running alongside Vives 2. So many PWs are planning to leap onto NWN2 and pull the plug on their NWN1 counterpart, as if its a mere hop skip and jump to transcend 4 years difference in engine technologies and quite a few thousand polygons difference in terms of graphical detail. With quite a bit of dev chats saying how difficult it'll be for a server to run more than 20+ areas, it seems as if theres at least going to have to be dulled-down tilesets made for ...

Custom content is another issue though.

Firstly i'd say that people won't really care about custom content at first, because we'll all have fun new toys to play with! :D

However, with the sheer mass of custom content available for NWN, and the load of graphical improvements involved for NWN2, there will be many, many things that NWN2 will not have that you would have had with NWN1 and custom content. The stuff that you will have though will be fresh, exciting and above ...

I have a feeling that eventually someone will have made custom tilesets for NWN2 that are stripped down versions of their hi-res counterparts. Seems the easiest workaround for the areas issue. :)

You could just randomize traps etc. and possibly routes as well. With NWN1 and placeable walls you had the ability to do this with a bit of scripting, and its pretty good fun, especially when the puzzled guide murmurs "I Dont remember this wall being here before".

It means that the player can still act as a guide, as they'll come to rooms and / or markings that they've remembered from before. The only thing thats changed is the evil overlord living in its depths, tired of ...
5.Help Needed!

This is a request to all players and DMs (any DM can help with this, some players may be able to too) -

Does anyone have a key to the Harbormasters in Port Royale? On my first night here on the server I wandered in through the open door there but had to log off soon afterwards. When I logged back in i'm trapped behind a locked door and there is no other way to escape the area (at least, none I know of (i've tried all doors and PC devices to exit, but with no success)).

Just posting to say "Hi!" *waves like a mad drunkard* (and thanks for allowing me to be here!Smiley).

I've only been on a little while today (i'm pretty busy at the moment with writing out 100+ Xmas cards) but I had a really good time with some rather odd RP. Looking to come on later, this place seems really cool so far. :)

dangnabit, its true! I saw its lips move! (lips on birds? Birdlip? (actually quite an odd little town in the UK, once visited there on the way to a festival)).

*holds out arms proudly with a beaming grin, waiting for the straight jacket to go on*

So is this a yay or nay on the scripting? Also, bar stat changes, what other changes could there be made?

One thing I just thought of would be a modification to the PC Charisma Tip tool, adding into the equation the effect of "Beer Goggles" :). It would work better and be more PC friendly than the forced lines of speech some drunk scripts have, and would add a nice touch to RP with players who use the tool regularly.

This goes far beyond aiding drunk RP. If, ...

Hehe.

I'm just glad I didn't make any glaring typos / ramble incoherently in my post, seeing as, by sheer coincidence, i'd only just got back from the pub. I wasn't feeling like hugging the toilet though, just going over and telling it what a dang great friend its been to me over the years.

Is this still required / wanted? I was scripting a whole load of stuff like this a while back as a little side project. Hehe, was working on hallucinogens as well  (now THAT was fun :D)

If anyones still interested, just PM me with whats needed and i'll dig out those scripts. :)

*Hoppy stretches up to read the note, a puzzled look on his face. Blushing a little, he looks down at his drab robe with a defeated frown. He scrawls a few lines below the notice in a child-like hand, checking the streets are clear before he does, then wanders down the nearest alley, his expression giddy and excited*

Would like to look fancy for a change. Please help.

Signed
Mr. H
ps. leave a note at the pie shop for me.

(Hoppy Harrington)

Male halfling, 3'3", 65lbs, brown hair, well kept moustache, enjoys resting, pies, baking and the occasional drink. Prone to accidents of a magical nature. WLTM similarly relaxed friend, preferrably not that much taller, for baking, maybe more.

"Fate works in mysterious ways", a cliche quoted by bards throughout the ages, scrawled in the hand of the dying hero bested by his unlikely quarry or whispered softly in the footsteps of the hapless lovers as they walk hand in hand. But there is much truth in the statement, as many have discovered. There is misery and failure where there should not be, and tyrants who terrorize the innocent and defenseless without persecution. But there comes a time when a hero is born - a single man ...

Whenever I think of Chuck Norris, I can't help but recall possibly his greatest movie to date - "Forest Warrior". I was close to buying it, considering i've got "Sherlock - Undercover Dog" sitting on the shelf too (had to reserve the honor of owning the worst film i've ever seen).

There are rare instances where people can pull it all off. Look at the big stars of the last 10 years in Hong Kong cinema (we're talking Andy Lau, (the late) Leslie Cheung, Sally Yeh to name but a few). The culture of the Hong Kong superstars is dying out though, much as talent is drying up in Hollywood.
It seems we're seeing more and more inexperienced, younger actors taking to the screen with the great actors of the 80's / early 90's clinging to whatever awful roles they can scrape up. ...

Merry Chrishtmash everyone!!

May we all give thanks to the true meaning and spirit of Christmas, a time of charity and goodwill to our neighbours, by throwing a huge party, getting dangerously drunk, stumbling around trying it on with your mother's friends then caking the bathroom with sick. :D
