The undead hunters

The bartender looked up from wiping down his dirty shotglasses as the red haired elf sat down. "Whattalit be buddy."
The elf straightened out his long ponytail and settled into the stool. "I'm looking for some information."
"Great, another one of THEM," the barman mumbled under his breath.
The elf seemed not to notice and continued on. "A friend and I hunt undead for a living, which as you can well guess is dangerous work. Seems to be getting more dangerous by the day really. Anyways, I was talking to the barkeep over at the Icy Vale Inn a few days ago..."
"You buy any drinks over there?" the man interjected looking down at his line of almost clean empty glasses.
"What? Oh. a few. So this barkeep mentions a guy named Salt Sower. You ever heard of him?" The elf looked up expectantly.
The barman answered in a slow momotone. "Nope, ain't never heard of him." He glanced down at the glasses and tipped his head towards them.
"Hmmmm, I was under the impression he was kind of famous."
The barman let out a loud sigh and turned a glass rightside up, smacking it down on the bar loudly. "Look Pal, do I gotta spell it out for you? I don't care if you throw salt, buy salt or pound salt. I don't know nothin' unless you buy a few drinks. Now whattaya have?"
The elf took the shotglass and polished it up with his robes before putting it back on the bar. "White wine. Something local."
The bartender looked down at the shotglass and back up at the elf. "You're new at this aren't you?" After a moments pause, he shrugged and poured glass anyways. "That'll be 20 gold."
"Kind of expen..." The Bartender's look cut the elf off in mid sentance. "Oh, yes, I guess that would be the right price." The elf hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Anything come to mind?" |
