Agreed. What happened to the boats?

| M'Gok Tukar knows that as soon as they fix that boat their place will be filled with freeloaders! |

Now, that's not exactly the truest statement, Renter Tin, copper, and feldspar don't do Dorian any good anymore.... Of course, the furnace there and that titanium tipping brazier would be nice, vice having to go all the way back to the Artio encampment.... Still! Dorian's been trying to purchase the privilege of using those resources for a while! You just haven't had Caddo on to collect :-p |

Right, back to this...
I know that its the furnaces and not the feldspar that's bringing visitors to M'Gok Tukar. We're crystal on that point (har har).
On gaining mineral rights or smelting rights or any other kind of rights at M'Gok Tukar... well, things have changed a bit since the community was enslaved by Duergar and freed again. There's no chief anymore, and the whole place has been turned upside-down. DSM-IV's 12 Angry Orcs event allowed a few players to talk about the future of M'Gok Tukar and its relationship to the rest of the lands. The vibe was rather isolationist.
That aside... Its lousy that there are no half-orcs at MT to roleplay with. Caddo exists almost solely to add color to MT, to help realize the place as a primitive tribal community with rules that are different from the outside world. But he is just another PC. What I play at when I can catch crafters at MT is that MT isn't the Tanglewood, and it isn't one of the crafting houses where you can just WORK (even though you can obviously mine and work and treat it like a public crafting house). What Caddo suggested to Dorian is that he offer something to the chief of MT in exchange for what he took out of MT. Dorian then gave Caddo a gift, which was very classy and gained Dorian one friend at MT. It was a very nice RP moment - you stay classy D!
What Vulpina/Dana used to do - to RP giving gifts to chief Borogask - was leave things on the ground in the M'Gok Tukar halls and let them disappear over the next reset. This was frequently things that she crafted and didn't need the money from selling, but they were high-end craftables, finished goods.
So now chief Borogask is dead... MT has no chief... I'm only talking about RP and RP-peace of mind, but I suppose you could be the best possible guest at MT by leaving something around the central bonfire that one imagines would be shared by the community. If you smelt gold ingots, you could leave a few gold ingots. Or you could bring something from the outside that MT can't make on its own, or some magic items. There's the risk that someone could visit MT after you, see this stuff lying around and take it, which would suck. But then again, who goes to MT on a regular basis without figuring out how you behave when you are visiting MT?
A new boat - which would help the orclun come and go as well as visiting adventurers - is a great idea! What a gift to the community!! I guess smelters could also be good tourists and buy something they don't need... Like some traditional orclun crafts made from trollskin! : )
All these suggestions are in good fun, and I hope they're taken that way. |
