DM rampages? Posted: 16 Aug 2007 10:44 PM |
Today found an interesting bit... Epic level monster comes to populated town, with two PC's on the town.
One PC dies, the other escapes. The one that died had no chance of defeating what walked into said town.
I guess what bothers me about what transpired, is that there was NO DM interaction after that mini-event. The server reset (and usually if there is a DM on before, there will be one on after such resets). My character picked up the other, brought her someplace safe (or safer), but it felt like the DM had left immediately after, and had no intention of coming back.
To me, this seems like a punishment for PC's for simply playing the game. I don't agree to a person hitting "Respawn" when there could have been a better, roleplayed way to prevent that whole trip to the nearest rest place. I tried to RP it out, but with no result: the dead PC simply hit a button, and lost exp for doing what seems to me, as nothing.
Oh. I should mention I tried the DM channel. Nothing. Tried the IRC channels, and got the same result.
...What gives? Was there a reason for this? Was it something planned? Did something else like this prevent the DM from not actually being able to come on? And... why does this happen? |

Sorry had unexpected company show up and completely got side tracked during the reset. It was not my intent to leave you both hanging!!!! Otherwise I would have popped back in. As for the creature it is there for a reason. An action was preformed and now a certain chain of events has been set off. Apologies!
Side note for Kalid. I still owe you xp for your participation in the Breath event!!! |

Also, it is my understanding that there was time to get away before the creature turned on the PCs?
It is also my understanding that at least one of the PCs was warned that the creature was very dangerous just the day before?
The lesson here is, if something big, bad and nasty walks into your neighbourhood for whatever reason that you may or may not be aware of, don't assume that you are perfectly safe just because it is something out of the ordinary.
Also, if you are in the company of an epic PC, they may not be able to save you from their own troubles every time. |

| And just because you have a cleric in the party doesn't mean your small group is now invincible. *Looks at Telli* I think we made it to the second atalan before we died xD |

Alrighty. That's a lot different than what I had originally assumed. |

AH! But that second PC did not know, for she had to go to bed early, before she could go any further into the hide out, due to. . work. Not only that, she was intureped with a stupid worthless phonecall, and could not react fast enough. So there for, the second PC had no clue. |
All Rincewind could manage to say was, "You know, I never imagined there were he-dryads. Not even in an oak tree." Durellae Snorted "Stupid! Where do you think acorns come from?" . . . (Terry Prachett, "The Color of Magic") |
