*left at the sign in desk in the entryway of the manor*

To the esteemed scholars of this manor,

My name is Talion Deraith, and I was some months ago introduced to your fine works here by masters Xaranthir, and Lucifier. In the company of master Salt. This happened while aiding master Lucifier in acquiring the materials he needed to open his portals. Since that time I have been involved in some pressing matters regarding the war with the Atalan, as well as a Lich from the Kobai. Which brings me now to the point of this correspondence. I believe your collection may hold information regarding this recently risen "Undead Avatar of War" as it is being called. Having been involved with this matter for sometime now I believe I am suited to be searching for any information on it which might prove useful in defense against it. Also of the wizards involved in this matter, to my knowledge, only master Salt and myself are actively working against it. And Salt is currently troubled by other matters which makes travel for him difficult.
This all said, my letter is left with you to request access to your collection via a key. I would of course make use of these portals which I did play a very small role in helping create, however of the portals not inside personal residences I know of only the portal on the isle of Ka'azim. Travel to the isle is current closed to me after a recent matter in Port Royale. The local criminal organization having deiced I caused too many problems for them has banned me from the city on threat of death. And with that ban I lose as well the only transportation to the isle of Ka'azim.

While this matter of the avatar is the most pressing there are certainly other interests that your collection holds for me. And nor would I ask for such access without offering anything in return. I have been experimenting in the arts of weapon enchanting for a considerable amount of time now, with some impressive results. I would be more then willing to share my current research and notes. In addition to this I have been making a study of the ancient dwarven ruins spread across Vives. These ruins I have uncovered and cataloged from the banks of the Glitterdell River, past Fiirhallen and its volcano and encountered such as well near the Icy Vale. These ruins date back at least to the time of Fiirhallen, and possibly further. My studies of these ruins have been limited so far due to time constraints and lack of information on the dwarven peoples, but again I am more then willing to share this information with any that wish it. I do not wish you to feel this information hinges on your acceptance of me into the manor, I will offer what I know freely in any event. I include it here only to display that I do not mean to take without giving back to the scholarly community.

I hope that this proposition finds you well. Also, Master Salt has offered to sponsor my request. His own letter should be forthcoming if you have not already received it. Thank you in advanced for you time and consideration. For any response letters can be sent to the Icy Vale inn where they will be forwarded to my home.

Thank you,
Talion Deraith

1. Heh... The scholars are locked out of the library because X got ticked off with them once and for all, moved all the books upstairs to the attic, and locked up the attic.

So people with access to the library are: Salt, Lucifer, Xaranthir, Serai - via the portals only, not the front door.

I think it's better if one of the aforementioned PCs spies the letter first; the scholars won't be able to do anything but write back complaining about being locked out.

2. Chiefy - the books in the library are the entire La Sapienza collection, stolen by Lucifer and X. There would probably be information about the "Undead Avatar of War", though a highly biased report by Midor, given Reginald Sanner's glorious part in it.

3. Key - only one of the PCs would be able to provide that, so again, better if one of the PCs writes back, and not the scholars. The scholars have got no keys.

4. Exchange of information - again, better if the PCs handle that one and decide.

5. If we don't want Lucifer or Serai (DM PCs) to handle this, we can pass both the letter and most of these points on to renter6 and let Salt handle it.

There is a portal ot the library at the Isle of Kaazim, I believe. In the maze somewhere.

(edit: confirmed: nw corner)

For the public forums.

Now that we’ve shown how X liberated the entire La Sapienza library, this is us trying to make sure that it remained a player-run initiative. Wherever possible we always passed on things like this to players to deal with.
