I'm curious as to how DM-run quests are handled. Do they spontaneously happen, or are they scheduled beforehand?
Thus far I've only encountered about four or five static quests in-game. I'm trying to fight the urge to 'go level', but it's difficult when there doesn't seem to be any logical thing for my character to be doing.
I've had some enjoyable interactions with other players, but the dialogue will end and you each continue on your way.
Should I just continue to explore? I've stuck fairly close to the caravan-linked cities for safety's sake.
Any input is welcome.

Perhaps I should clarify that. My question concerning quests bled into a larger issue.
I understand that the playerbase here is small. The reason I was trying to find single-player quests, or DM quests I could be sure to attend, was that the few people I've met were far higher level than me, and inviting myself to tag along with them seemed presumptuous.
Obviously, getting to know people and be known in turn takes time. How did all of you approach it? What did you do in the meantime? |

You'll notice a LOT of backrounds posted :P
We did that, and, we whine a lot.
But in all seriousness, don't be afraid of death. It comes to us all Explore and have fun. That's the point. Aimlessly wander. I've found a lot of crazy things that way |

| One way to get to know the other players is to join them on DM quests. My lower level character would not participate in the swordplay, but was able to participate in the vastly more interesting (to me, at least) roleplay associated with such quests. DMs award XP for roleplay, so this should help you to level. Better still, it allows your character to get to know other characters, providing for more RP. After all, just like in the real world, after a major event everone sits down at the local pub and goes over the details. Quillian thinks Midor's alternate name ought to be the "City of Gossip". ;) |

| Quillian thinks the Midor Infirmary should implement a stamp card. You know, respawn 9 times, 10th one is free... |

Lisen: LOL
There's a mixture of prepared Quests and ad-hoc activity as re: DM Quests really. Some are announced on the boards here....... and players who set up Parties and such (out of game here or in irc) can freely speak to DM's to perhaps "arrange" something.
I myself and other DM's etc have been kinda caught up with some RL issues etc..... but we'll perhaps look at bringning in some more DM's soon in less DM populated timezones.
Cheers

What are the DM populated time zones? I know there aren't any on at 2AM EST (When I'm usually on on weekdays) which turns into 6AM GMT (I think), 8AM Italy, and I guess after that we're in the iron curtain aren't we?
Oh, wait... That doesn't exist anymore... *Puts labeler on head and sets it to STUPID* |

Oh, and if any new DMs do come in, just so I can be the first to do something, let me be the first to congradulate all you lucky people!
May you gain the vast knowledge of Arathon the Great and strive to great feats in the Dungeon Master world! Have faith, for ye have been found to be witty, cunning, and creative! Ye shall not fail, and ye shall not fall.
