A General Item Request Posted: 05 Jan 2007 07:26 PM |
A general item request is placed throughout the lands; specifically Ferein, Port Royale, Buckshire and its Trading Post, the Four Winds Inn, and Brandibuck.
The parchment is, at the time of each posting, immaculate, crisp. The writing is clean and precise, offering room for misunderstanding only to those that are completely illiterate or those that cannot understand script writing.
It reads:
To the Adventurers of Vives,
An excess of funds has introduced me to the wonders of collecting. In this instance, my current items of choice are gems.
Specifically, fine gems. Diamonds, Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires, and Fire Opals. The type that are considered uncraftable and are thus useless to gem-setters and enchanters.
I have in mind a price for each type of gem, but am very willing to negotiate prices.
Any with an interest in doing business, please leave a message for me at the Broken Mask Tavern in Port Royale.
Valethrion Veziel
{( Gems that bear no prefix or suffix are the only ones that I will accept. Things like 'Fine Diamond' will be turned away. Payment will be given those that bring me pure, non-craftable gems. )}
{( Second note: I am only paying for the above-mentioned gems; gems of worth. )} |

A little note in a flowing script, that is more of an attempt to make letters look impressive and pretty than easily comprehenseble, is placed near most of these posts (with the particular exception of Ferein).
It reads:
Why not use all your ill gotten gold to help the needy and unfortunate instead of satisfying your wicked lust for hoarding treasures?
You vile and most wretched IMP!
P.S. Many thankst to the esteemed Magister Balthor Mountainhand of Mountainhand Enterprises, conveniently located at ground level of the Askwith Manor at the Port Royale Plaza for your all your merchantile needs, for his generous donation to the restoration of Brandibuck Vale.
Unlike the gem-lusting IMP, some mages care for the continued well being of the natural order of Vives.
The note is left unsigned. Edit: And not so little after all. |
WickedArtist: I think he needs a proper elf. WickedArtist: A christmas elf! Tasra: Any sort of elf that actually smiles ;o
Gasp! Scandalous!!! |

*A note, in a meticulous and careful hand, is penned beside all others, except in Ferein and Brandibuck. It reads as follows:*
To whom it may concern:
It appears that some would begrudge, belittle and insult a man for offering to partake of commerce on notice boards intended for that very purpose. I would have thought barbs and lies were the domain of less than reputable news-sheets, but, alas, some will take any opportunity available, and use any forum, to slander, and then not bother to identify themselves as the ones doing so.
It seems to me I was reading this offer to transact gold for gems long before the horrific assault on the village of Brandibuck. I am certain that the magister in question had every intention of doing his part for the reconstruction effort well before the writer of the insulting letter placed it here. I am certain he will rise above pettiness and do his part even now.
In faith,

All such notes have been torn down, barely a day after their first sighting.
The note signed by Emma has been removed as well; albeit much more gently, if such distinctions could be made.
Valethrion is sighted walking along the roads of Brandibuck and within the Hole in da Ground Inn, a small Pseudodragon perched atop his shoulder.
With no hint or trace of hesitation, the Elf (NOT an Imp!) heaves a large, heavy leather bag onto Winky's bar top, the sound of metal touching metal easily heard throughout the common room and the bar room of the Inn. The decidedly asinine notes of accusations and slander are also placed on the bar.
"Perhaps your cretinous race will learn now where their place in this world is," Valethron murmurs, in Elven, with a pleasant smile. "I was appalled when I heard the news," he says after a brief pause, shifting to Common. "It isn't a terribly large amount, but I hope it will help the souls of Brandibuck rebuild their former lives. Take care."
The not-Imp pats the bag of gold, nods gravely to Winky, then turns on his heel and leaves, only to return later to barter for supplies.
{( As soon as NwN stops being mean, I'll trash 150,000 gold pieces; since Winky apparently cannot be 'bartered with.' )} |

Several new sheets of parchment find their way to the same locations listed above (see first post). The writing that touches each worked papyrus sheet seems a bit hurried, as if written after some great epiphany, though it still retains legibility.
Wealth Seekers and Treasure Hunters of Vives,
A sudden craving for the great, green gems known as 'emeralds' has stricken me, but I find I alone cannot fulfill my desire for these rare beauties.
Therefore, I'm asking the adventuring community to hand whatever emeralds they may find to me.
Of course, there is a hefty reward in return for said gems. That reward being the sum of fifteen thousand gold pieces for each.
If any are interested in pursuing this deal, please leave word for 'Val' with Margaret at the Broken Mask Inn.
Thank you all, and travel well.
{( Contrary to my last hunt for gems, these need to be craftable emeralds, not regular ones. )} |
