ahh..Thanks for all the kind words. *giggles*
DSM is naaasaty with the fool's mate opening! Speed chess approaches are always disconcerting! Ruthless! Ruthless and MEAN! He plays to win, not to play! Boo!
*continues to research a possible Achilles heel*
I try to play as a chaotic evil person would. Ask Robber, Ophelia tanked the first game she played with Lucius so he would play her again for money. Don't worry I felt really bad about it and stopped it after a reset.
Yeah, I have to say I was about five moves into the game before I realized just how outclassed I was. And it's a special kind of humiliation when you get your intellectually bruised butt handed to you by a half orc in a red dress.
*Accuses DSM-IV of bad roleplaying.*
On the grounds that Ophelia claimed she was a new player to the game.
And everybody knows the phrase "new player" is synonymous with "fresh meat."
Ophelia being good at chess bad role-playing? Probably. But hay can’t she be an idiot savant?? And just because she has played 5 or 6 games in her young life and I have played around 10 thousand shouldn't mean anything... right? :P |

It's impossible to seperate RL chess skill from IC chess skill. Treat it like a LARP. In this case, it really is your skill which represents your character's skill.
The chess is there for fun. Don't get too worked up about it.

| You would most likely be incapable of losing to me, even if you tried to throw the game. I know the rules, just not strategically minded. My father once got me in checkmate in about 5 minutes. At that point I realized that my efforts were better directed elsewhere. |

You mean Live Action RP?
I think it is a contest based upon who looks most like a vampire, and who in real life would be more likely to sacrifice themselves to a vampire. |

3 Golden Rules when thinking about playing chess.
rule 1: Never play against Garry Kimovich Kasparov and expect to win. rule 2: Never play against Robert James "Bobby" Fischer and expect to win rule 3: Never ever 'and i mean ever' play against a half orc in a red dress and expect to stay alive if you do win..... |
