Re: COURT ADJOURNED Posted: 31 Aug 2006 03:40 PM |
The expected resumption of Ferein vs Dana and Ophelia will not take place as scheduled this evening due to sickness on the part of one of the defendants. While not life threatening the last thing the Realm of Ferein wish to do is bring further torment on one who is unwell.
Consequently the trial will not now be called back into session until tomorrow at the earliest.
((OOC- Really sorry about this everyone, but two major participants have problems with being able to play as planned tonight which would mean running the event would simply be unfeasible and unfair to those concerned. We are currently aiming at running it tomorrow, most likely at an earlier time of either 9 or 10pm UK time. Watch this space.)) |

Re: COURT ADJOURNED Posted: 01 Sep 2006 05:53 AM |
((OOC - That nastiness and inconvenience known as RL and it's various game-interrupting events has reared its ugly head unfortunately. With the number of people crucial to this event and varying timezones the result has been that the trial will not now convene until next TUESDAY. We are aiming for a time slot of around at least 10pm UK, I will firm that up and post a definite start nearer the time. That is the OOC reasoning behind this.
For IC purposes, the trial did not reconvene last night due to minor illness on Ophelia's part, she has now recovered. As to the longer delay.... well, watch the forums. Sincerest apologies to all involved.
Dana and Ophelia have, since the trial is in progress, been split up. Dana remains in the holding cell at the Hall of Decision with her cell now furnished and made comfortable, Ophelia has been moved back to her old cell in Detention. Since the trial is now underway neither will be permitted visitors.)) |

"So... where is she?" Asked the Princess, her expression a mixture of concern and bafflement.
"We don't know," answered Nariel in her usual soft manner, "Elmirie says she simply left. None of the border guards report seeing her but that then that is hardly surprising. If Elvalia does not wish to be found she won't be."
Sairalindë simply nodded, "Doubtless she has her reasons. So it seems we have no choice but to wait. Let Arien know there will be a delay, also the gnome. But do not tell them why." |

((I have to say I really enjoyed this event... it was done well.. thought out well.. written well.. and if you guys didnt have that much scripped before hand hats off
.... they only thing that could have made it better ... was mentioned earlier this week... the DMs should have been giving out role play XP bonuses like they where going out of style... I think its too late.. they must already be out of style...
Would I have gone to the event knowing before hand I wasn't going to get any XP... of course.. it was fun... lots of fun...
but... yeah... we call this a role play server.. but really the best was to get XP... the only way to get XP is to plow through an area you've been to before... over and over ... sooo instead of sitting there at the trial... I would have been better off going through carfax or something ... or at least me character would have been better off... I wouldnt have been because it wouldnt have been as entertaining
Right now... we have a good group of players who like role play.. and encouragement to role play isn't needed ... but.. I dunno... isnt the way things have been lately almost discouragement...
I feel my character grew more today at the trial then he would have killing two dozen animated weapons ... so shouldnt that be reflected with numbers. I almost feel embrassed by mentioning it... but I don't ...
but even still .. I'd rather have more events and get no experience.. then get some XP but have few events.. and todays was still very well done ... no prizes needed)) |

Re: COURT ADJOURNED Posted: 06 Sep 2006 04:46 AM |
Firstly, I never run an event where xp is not given out.
For various reasons, last night it was not possible, both DMs were dealing with the aftermath of the trial, in other words making sure Ophelia was escorted from Ferein and Dana executed, with all the various side issues resulting from that.
I give out roleplay xp regularly and at times if I think it's deserved in copious amounts, and - if you'd had a little more patience - that applies no less to the trial event than any other. But we are at times busy, we do get sidetracked, often dealing with a multitude of things players never see nor are aware of and, don't forget, roleplaying ourselves to contribute to what is happening in the event. Every NPC at that trial was played by one or the other of us.
You must also remember that both events, especially the first, were staged at times which were outside the times when both DMs are usually online - certainly true in my case - sorry but I do sleep.
That said, it was my intention today to post what I am going to post now:
This is a list, covering both events, of those -I- remember as having taken some part in the trial, at either or both of said events. If you do not appear on this list then post below and I will add and bear the name in mind and I -will- get to you when I see you IG or ensure if I can't that someone does.
Nico Alis x Lucius x Talion x Balthor Rosen Ualame (and no I haven't forgotten the 'other' aspect in your case) x Kalannar x Allyssa x Nidarren (you were tagged with xp for the first week - see, I notice these things) Fennigan x Cora Tomi Bereil Salt Nay'Finn Macha Holace x Yggs Febriel Caedrych Karli Dorian Garrak Shihaya'zad Celebdil Guk Owyn
That is as exhaustive a list as I can come up with given 4 hours sleep last night, or rather this morning (less last week), there will be omissions I'm sure but they aren't intentional save in the case of Dana and Ophelia who have already been dealt with. If you were at either event and I've missed you out then post.
I will get to everybody when I see the character IG. (x denotes dealt with) |

Hey, I should talk about what the DM's Should have been doing, instead of what they were busy doing as well... *criticizes the Dm's and their EXP giving habits*
*blah blah blah*
If your character grew, than would it be too complex to reflect that into some sort of inner monologue over the next few days? Weeks?
Heck, make a Journal post or something.
Sorry I missed the event, both scheduled times were during work schedules, but from what I heard, it sounded great. |

((Completely aside from what is written above....
PLEASE do NOT bombard Vulpina with PMs or tells IG as to Dana's fate, they will not be replied to. Her fate is something which at the moment is being dealt with between the player and the DM team. As far as anyone is aware IC Dana is DEAD. RIP. Questions OOC as to her fate will not be answered either by her or by any of the DM team)) |

I understand the desire to get XP and have your character grow and so on and so forth. It's especially fun in an adventuring server such as this where power is usually appreciated in teams, but at the bottom line, RP is its own reward.
I'm disappointed from not being able to attend either event, but the time just isn't right, now with school and all.
But kudos to all those who did participate and all the work that was made. It really showed off in the forums - I didn't manage to speak with any of the characters that wer involved in this, I didn't get to witness the trials, but I still enjoyed this plot very much, so great work people. |

I regret I had to work as well for both proceedings. It sounded fantastic and I really, really wish I could have made it. Any event that helps create and define policy for the server seems pretty important. Timik will hear all the news IG surely.

Re: COURT ADJOURNED Posted: 06 Sep 2006 12:45 PM |
| So angry I missed part two. Oh well. Love Dana's subsequent post. Thumbs up to the DMs who made the trial as realistic as possible - that's some impressive staying power and dedication, superhuman almost. Every character behaved beautifully, from Nico's vaudevillian sleaze to Dana's unrepentant defiance to Ophelia's nauseous testimony to the unamused patience of the elves (at least during the parts I was able to witness... very angry about that.) However, I perhaps selfishly reserve my main huzzah for the players who were not center stage; a courtroom audience full of NPCs wouldn't have had 1/10th of the emotional impact. Sitting still for that long during such a lengthy and tense RP session is an exercise in judicious use of emotes and overall restraint, aside from the fact that you, like everybody else, have time constraints in your lives and set aside a large chunk of life to RP a spectator position. Go you. |
