Hear Ye All Vives Veterans! Posted: 13 Oct 2003 03:50 PM |
Hear ye Hear ye, all those who have been with Vives for a long time, with character that have more levels and skills than Oronk himself can count (read: five ) are invited to a large adventure coming soon just for you!
This adventure shall be DM'ed myself as per some requests, plus I've wanted to come back and DM in some free time I've recently had. Though originally for Thursday Night, October 16th (or 17th, whichever Thursday is), this is not doable for me, as I have some family commitments I must attend to, plus its rather short notice for a lot of people. However, if you could all post the times you could make it (I'm thinking maybe even a weekend would work well for people, like a sunday afternoon maybe), that would help a lot. I'm looking at most likely a 3 hour quest for you guys (erring on the side of a little longer), so hope you can make it :D.
Off the top of my head some of the people I know might be interested/aimed for are:
Merum Neek Walin Quietus Arathon Alosynth Aria Cheif Ruldain Sug Gorak
If I left you out, it's because it's a long day full of studying for exams . It'll hopefully be a fun time with all the old vives crew in a rousing adventure. If any of the new DM's would like to help out, be sure to either respond here or drop me a PM .

Margrave (Lytton) might be interested, also there are quite a few other reasonably high lvlls too who might be...... although I'll let them speak for themselves hehe.
Thx for this Fen... as for my availability the best would be any time on the weekends (I am GMT though :P)
Cheers!

aye aye! i am not as veteran as ya all but i guess Tom can handle some -adventures-!
I guess i can play this week (got a vication) every day at 'normal' hours - i can play till 3 or 4 am i guess (if my parents will let me of course =p) or i can wake up early (8 7 or even 6) for such event :)
if it will be later then this week, and i'll have school =/ weekends would be the best, -but- I learn at sundays, so i can stay up late at friday, but i cant at strday, or again, i can wake up early ;)
currently i am GMT +1 (we moved the clock one hour back, not sure if GMT moves as well, or at all )

I'm grounded Mon-Thur (After school basicly) and Fri Night - Sun Morning I'm out camping. Then Sun. Morning I'm out at Church (Gotta be there :P, especially since I have the first reading) So Sun. Afternoon would probably be best for myself. I hope. If not, then I'll probably miss out. I'll probably use Tasra Amalayax. Though Fenarisk, I'm insulted! All four of my characters are available for the quest, and you don't remember ANY of them! >:(
Well, I can only hope for the best. |

Tasra, I remembered you, but please (and this goes for all the other people), don't take this the wrong way, but this adventure should be seen as a 20 year class reunion . Most of these people not only have high levels, but have been bogged in the toolset, been DM'ing all the time, or been helping with the history and writing in Vives, so this is kind of my gift for old time's sake for the old timers (Old timers meaning they've been with Vives for about 6-8 months now ). Not to say some new people couldn;t jump in, or be picked up along the way .

Welcome back.
As for myself, I don't think I'd be involved as a player (can I trade-in 3xlevel-8 characters and 5xlevel-5 for a level 16? ), but if I'm free I'd certainly like to help out as DM.
(plus, I'm not sure if I want Arizzle be involved in "a fun time with all the old vives crew in a rousing adventure" *grimaces at the direction of Marg*) |

Ahhhhrgh!!! Man Fen! I would really like to attend but the weekend is Bad Bad Bad! I'm working on a project in NE PA and Sunday is a travel day for me. I drive home sunday and return to this cold, nasty, lonely Army Base on Monday nite!
Sorry

Well then, we high level newbies will just have our own quest and you DMs can stay out ... wait, what am I saying????!!! *grin*
Seriously, don't you think it might have been somewhat more diplomatic to keep an invitation-only event private and not rub it in our faces that we aren't invited? ;)

Dieties preserve us from the evil chaotics named Lag, Crash, and Server Reset. PCs: Loli Dankirk (Ftr 18/Brd 8.5 @ 1777 hrs) left Vives for Origins; Gnora Gnombody (Sor 5 @ 54 hrs) and Amanda Stark (Wiz 3 @ ~10 hrs) left Vives for Feline Providence. |

OK Fenarisk... 6 Months or More... it's October now... so... Sept. Aug. July. June. probably a bit of May... a bit of Oct. (it's gonna be more than half-way through Oct, so I'll count that too) so thats... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... and 6... That sounds good. And I have attempted to work on the history, but nobody contacts me after my countless posts on helping with that. Even AFTER I made my own rough history (which I recently noticed left out the Gnomes... Nobody loves gnomes :D) Nobody wanted to hear it. So pardon me from trying to force my way into the quest. If you don't want me in there, just say so! :P |

I'll prolly dust ol' Shadoah off for this, she's only level 8, but Walin will be there to protect her I'm sure. Perhaps Carina might come along and Shadoah can interpret for her again? |

anyday is good for me... Though family obligations keep my playing hours a bit later (yes, even on the weekends) usually after 8PM CST I try to stuff the kids in bed after dinner, but my wife always smacks me :-)

Oh... and... let me give y'all a rare huggles, for all the ups and downs, goods and bads, pretty, and uglies that we've gone through together. It's been a long roller-coaster ride, a rough one at times. One day, I will sit and scribble down this almost too-good-to-be-true story.
From Ara's Snowqueen to Vives, the proposal (yes that was the intention ), an IRC room, Lytt's PHP-forums, QNX, the banner-killer :D , don't-know-what-to-do, new forums, and now a new server (we should give him a name)...
From knowing the big bad gentleman last September 18th (or so I remember - "very addicting"), an auspicious meeting with Q ("But the magic just isn't there"), Alo, Gwindor, Gorak, and Caraldur (Mendel)... Vico (Walin) an Landru (Merum)... Lytt and Kell... Ru`ul and Sug... and Fenarisk (I still can't believe how quickly things were trusted in your hands); the quiet skyde and Grim... Drudo, Torg, Rom, and Chief, Gallen, and Arani, 6pac... Arasus, Neek, Jalapeno (Noggin), Ania, and Lord Al... Sylvan and Aegnor, Alulas and Tasra, and of course, Sion and kioshi - I'm stopping around April or so now?
So, so much could have gone wrong but didn't. An ambitious project that goes against human nature (no, I won't ever forget that, Lytt). So many nights I asked whether it's worthwhile (and yes, on so many nights there just are just many ways out everywhere) Without alot of you I'd probably had taken any one of those ways out. Hey. This is getting awkward. So a BIG hug and a thank you... |

Speaking of Alulas... you wanna make an NPC of him? Tasra is STILL looking for her fiancee It would also help her get out of her depressing slum, and make her a reasonably pleasant Mountain Elf.
And I just have gone through four cups of coffee, so I can't quite get the jist (My POE partner in crime just said Jist is spelled with a G,[as he looks over my shoulder reading everything I typed] but I shall smite him later) of what Aria's saying. But I saw my name in there, so you wanna give me the cliffs notes version of that? |

Re: Hear Ye All Vives Veterans! Posted: 16 Oct 2003 05:16 AM |
OK, I finally get what Aria's saying. (5AM, tons of homework to do still) So I guess this is a good time for everyone mentioned to blush and be modest. So, I suppose I'll start us off!
*Blushes* Aww, shucks... *scuffs feet* I didn't do nuttin but be a pain.
So with this big huggles speach... It sounds like a massive pep speach or something... Are you planning to have this go full blown Public soon? Almost kind of sounds like it. *Remembers wistfully the closed beta days* Ah, how I miss those +5 Scarabs I found every day *Grins* But then again, there was almost never more than three people on at a time, if you were lucky, it was five. Now, look at what's ahead! Even in the wee hours of the morning, there are a couple people on. (Like 2-4AM EST) All other times, there are usually 5, and it's not uncommon for there to be 8, and on a good day I've seen as many as 12!
So now, I only have to ask this. If this operation goes full public, and we're getting as many applications as I've heard NOW... Won't the server get full pretty quickly? One of those things that kind of worries me. (I would hate to be shut out of Vives because too many other people are on at once, and I think everyone thinks that way) OK, now, I think I've gotten completely off topic... soooooo....
BIG hug to Arathon, Aria, and Q for making this all possible. If it weren't for you guys, I would get a full nights sleep instead of waking up at 2AM :P |
