FATHERS DAY
Posted: 18 Jun 2006 10:27 AM
I would like to wish a happy fathers day to myself because its my first.

A happy fathers day to all the fathers out in Vives. Few of you know how difficult it is to type with a screaming, drooling, pooping baby in your lap.

A happy fathers day to my own father who I blame for my constant need to upgrade my computer addiction.

Also Ophelia would like to wish a happy fathers day to Orsk.

yep happy fathers day dad....
youve been a rock to me through all my stupid phazes and now that the balance of who buys the most beers for the other has finally tipped towards me , i salute you and say thanks for being able to offer such sensible advice ,as only an old get can , for all these years.

And

YES IT IS BLOODY BLEEDIN FATHERS DAY TODAY FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD

No doubt in America its some other day , like april 1st or november 5th... i cant be arsed to check.

No doubt some bleedin wikipediaobsessedsepo will retort having taken the bait.

They say Elevator , we say Lift
They say Drapes , we say Curtains
They say President , we say Inarticulate , chimp featured , evil , twat .

(I reckon if they were deprogrammed , 95% of them would be alright)
But that would take a Guantanamo being set up in an area the size of texas (infact a fence around texas) being run by the rest of us , for say , ten years .

If you catch a butterfly.
You can either keep it and watch it die.
Or let it go and watch it fly away.

Heh, oh DSM, your little un is still relatively immobile?

Wait until the upgrade to version 2.0 with the Enhanced Mobility feature. Kiss game-time goodbye until bed-time. There's only so much time in the day and something's got to go. I myself said farewell to sleep.

This is my 3rd father's day and despite all the yelling, whining and crying, I love it.

I'm a Canadian, who shares most of the vocabulary words used in the United States (aside from pronouncing the last letter of the alphabet -zed- and pronouncing lieutenant as -leftenant-), and the same date for Mother's day.

Every one of your OOC posts seems to poke a dig at Americans, generally raising cheap cliches and stereotypes. It is odd, given that one of the biggest cliches is that all yanks are blindly ignorant of the rest of the world, that you regularly manage to outdo any American I've met on that count, and be more offensive in the process.

*Does not duck*

Cheers,

I should like to wish -ALL- the fathers a (belated) happy fathers day, and at the same time distance myself from the above remarks

As an English person I would like to suggest we can hardly hold up Tony Blair as a paragon of virtue.
Yes we use different words to describe things, my father has a saying that sums it up perfectly. We are two nations divided by a common language. I can live with it.

From my own personal point I have to say that Vives can be pretty dead at times, living in a GMT zone, the place comes alive when the players from the US log in.

Nuff said, I think

I myself tip my hat at my old man, dunno how he manages half the time. And he hasn't even started helping foot the bill for college!

And if you sods want to have a Yank/Brit discussion, make a new thread >_<

I love just about every nation - I just didn't like the continous American bashing, when I believe none of us here have shown such aggression towards anyone else here on these forums.

I'm all about a good joke about, how we all know "Soccer" is what its really called.

But I just didn't like that its becoming repetative, and its not provoked.

Aside from that - I love all the Brits, Aussies, Euro's,Asian's, and whatever else we have here. No need to bash eachother based on stereotypes.

*tears of joy* The first time a thread of mine has been highjacked.

Thank you....I truely feel I have been accepted here in Vives.

Anyway..

I have been a father for 4 months now. Its the best and worst thing that has ever happen. Its really hard to explain. More frustration and more joy then ever in my life. I am just about to feed my child his first solid food and I am sooo excited. Odd how life turns out.

"salutes the leftenant named Zed..."

Happy Father's day....you'all

I hear ya, man. 100%. It's just amazing, huh?

Just because we can't hold him up as a paragon of virtue doesn't mean that we can't hold him up as a lightning rod ;-)

But back on topic it was great to be able to speak to my dad on Father's day. Just being able to talk to him at all was wonderful as he was diagnosed with cancer of the vocal cords last year and was told that he might have to have his vocal cords removed (luckily the treatment worked and he was given the all-clear!)
