Lore: The Starseekers

((The following is UNCOMMON KNOWLEDGE. It is known to scholarly Gnomes (not all Gnomes). It is known to most diviners and mathematicians. Anyone with a Lore of about 30 (skill ranks + ability + feats - no items or buffs included, with the exception of Legend Lore) will probably know it or some of it, if they have a good RP reason to.))

The Starseekers

Gnomes have long been fascinated with astronomy. The Elves have their forests, the Dwarves their stone, but evidence shows that the ancient Gnomish druids—if indeed they ever existed—looked to the skies for wisdom and inspiration.

The elusive Starseekers are a long-forgotten group of Gnomes who pioneered astronomical studies. Their contributions to modern mathematics, navigation and arcanology are considerable, but as they have never been recorded, the extent of their influence might never be known.

Starseeker Tower and the Shrine of Stars

Pioneers of technology and the arcane arts, philosophers and tinkerers and sages, The Starseekers used mathematics and astronomy as a basis for their research and have invented a great many spells that would not otherwise be known to us today.

Of particular note is their research into the properties of starmetal, an unstable metal formed from fallen stars. This research has long been lost to time, the last research notes remaining on the topic destroyed a thousand years ago due to some mysterious and portentous event that happened at the time.

Starseeker Tower was their observatory, and the Shrine of Stars was rumoured to be a place of strong magic.

The location of these legendary places is now unknown, but they are likely to be somewhere in the Cold Lands, due to the Ice Queen's affinity for Time.

((Gnomes or anyone of a long-lived race who might have reason to remember events from 900 years ago can PM All DMs for further clues.))
