Area Won't Load. Posted: 11 Jun 2006 10:04 AM |
The area labeled 'The Standing Stones' just off the Northern Highway and the Four Winds Inn won't load for me. And, since I last logged off (apparently) in that area, that obviously presents a bit of a problem.
So far, I've tried reinstalling all the Vives haks, but that didn't work.
Every time, I connect to the Vives pre-log in screen, click on my character's little tab, and click 'Connect' (or whatever that button that shoves you into the game world is). Then it puts on the loading screen; and about five-sixths of the way there, it stalls for a long moment, then hits the far end of the loading bar. And, until recently, it simply told me that NWN 'has experienced a problem and needs to shut down,' and asks me if I want to send in an error report. However, the last two tries (after reinstalling the haks) has allowed me a brief, unrendered view of the area, including two fence posts and a lamp.
So, any help here? |

| Do you have shiny water on? If so set it to off. |

Wow; that actually worked.

Great.
Same problem, except now it's in the area two transitions south of the Four Winds Inn.
Graphic quality is fast; no shadows; no grass, no shiny water...
Any more quick fixes? |

| What card do you use and what driver? |

| No clue on both accounts; though the computer and the card are fairly new: less than a year old, both. |

I'm betting on ATI. I can put money on it!
Right click on a blank spot on your desktop, select Properties, then the Settings tab and you'll see somewhere written:
Display: Monitor on <Video card>
For example, I got: Plug and Play Monitor on NVidia bla bla bla.
That should tell you what card you're using. As for the driver version, if you got anything other than NVidia, I dunno how to check. |

If you're feeling adventurous, you might try downgrading your graphics driver to a previous version. Sometimes that makes the difference. If it doesn't, then you can just as easily upgrade again.
Do you know how to do that? |

And if that doesn't work you could always take your computer and toss is out the window. Thats what I do when it doesn't work.
*peers out of 3rd story window*
*tosses his 486 out of window*

Figured I should just stick to one thread with this, so...:
Yesterday, my father, being the oh-so-computer literate man he is, managed to uninstall Neverwinter Nights on my computer. I recently reinstalled it, along with almost all the bells and whistles it used to have (minus a very large number of portraits and other non-essentials).
However, I logged on to Vives a few minutes ago and...It doesn't work. It's similar to the first problem (as stated above): the screen shifts onto the loading part, but instead of having -just- the loading screen, it also shows part of the IG HUD. Also, the loading bar doesn't move.
At present, I am stuck in the transition between the front door to McGullicutty's Inn and Buckshire.
The graphics are all set to low; no shiny water, no sky boxes, shadows are zero, and fast detail.
Can anyone help?
Also, graphics card is an ATI Radeon 9250, if that helps any.
_ Edit: Fix'd.
