It's kinda fun though, use their "Nutrition" calculator to figure out what's in the food you're eating. It's kind of worrisome ;)

There's feces in every kind of processed meat, as well as insect parts. Part of livin in the post-industrial age, baby.
Incidentally, if you watched "Super Size Me", the Morgan Spurlock documentary about an all-McDonald's diet, you saw the guy whose diet consists of approximately 90% Big Macs, and has for the past thirty years. He is thin and has a lower than average cholesterol count. However, he "very rarely" eats the fries. :)
What's the big deal about beef oil in fries? You never cooked your hash browns in the sausage grease when you make breakfast? Never used bacon grease as a flavor additive? Never sprinkled baco bits on your salad?
Besides, if anything gets us, it'll be cancer from all the EMP radiation from cell phones and computers we've been absorbing all these years...

Sounds good to me, not McDonalds flaut in the last 10 years everyones main concern has become looking good naked and living forever
The big deal of course with the beef oil in the fries was for vegetarians. But if your that much of a hippie why would you eat at McDonalds anyway. Also many people who are Hindu do not eat beef. |

Yep it's pretty much the passing off of the fries as vegetarian that's the issue, and also for people following religious dietary practices. To stop cooking them in beef fat is good, but then replacing that beef fat with flavourings, some of which are from beef sources, and then burying this information to me is erm........... reprehensible. |

oh...last i heard, anything that was 'partially hydrolyzed [insert type] oil' could consist of up to 60% MSG. Monosodium Glutamate.
ok. information from an article by Mark Gold from '95 which can be found here:
http://users.westnet.gr/~aesclep/mg-msg.htm
lengthy but very informative read. alas, i still eat chenese buffet at least once a month and would more if i could afford it.
conclusion. MSG is good for babies. |

I always thought McDonalds "food" tasted like post apocalyptic sewage and reading about all the stuff they put in it I am conviced enough not to touch it with a stick and protective gloves. And the times I actually had a Big Mac I was mad at the sizes of their burgers. I mean they are so tiny you have to eat atleast a dozen of them to still your hunger. And then after one fart you are hungry again. Bleh! And their campaigns for the health of the youth are a bit missplaced while they feed their poison to children.
Anyway those are my thoughts on Big Mac's and their creators :)
So there :) |

Nice try, but unfortunatly not true. Which is too bad, because I wouldn't mind trying a earthworm burger someday.
I especially like the quote from Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonalds. I'd have thought the quote false if I didn't know that Ray Kroc is, in fact, a real person and the real founder of McDonalds. |

For anyone living outside the US , 'Baco bits' are worse than they sound. They look like gravel, have the same salt content as salt, and taste like if you added water to one grain it would rehydrate to an entire piglet. Why anyone would sprinkle a load of them on a salad is anyones guess. If they were available in england we would sprinkle them on the roads prior to a frost. |

LOL - Please - if Bacos were widely available in England they'd be in everything. I've seen what you people eat... ;)
You know, of course, that Britain is right behind the U.S. as fattest nation, and they're the ones we took the title from recently.

I was drawn to this thread because I thought we were going to out the local recipe for a big mac, seeing as Vives has players all over the place (but I'll wager none more than 10 km from a McDonald's - am I wrong?).
I can remember once coming across a message board for current McDonald's employees to compare notes on how the operations go across different locales. Also entertaining were descriptions of regional menu items. I wonder if things aren't more standardized now. In the last couple years McD's started taking credit cards in my neighborhood, and the soda fountain has been automated at the drive through w/ a very simple robot that communicates w/ the cash register.
My own testimony: everything from McDonald's in the southern U.S. tastes better than everything from McDonald's in the rest of the U.S. That goes for a lot of food, actually. Can't say why this is so. But, I've demonstrated this to myself over and over. And over. |

Nope. happily i am 40 miles from my nearest , and i live on that thin lower leg bit that juts out of britain. And we dont have bacobits, and beef fat is dripping, and, hash is not something you dip into dripping, hash is something that you heat then sprinkle,(allegedly).Dripping on toast is very good.McDonalds is wrong.

Re: What's in a Big Mac? Posted: 24 Mar 2006 02:17 PM |
I wanted to make a traditional Sunday British Dinner for Lisen's parents..... so thought I'd do Roast beef, tatties, yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings.
Now here in Canada, -TRY- getting any joint of beef still on the bone (apart from prime rib). It is seemingly impossible, -AND- they trim all the bloody fat, which gives a well-cooked Roast it's flavour and tenderness......... Eventually I succumbed and got prime rib, but when I asked for some beef dripping they thought I was mental! After much discussion he eventually gave us some beef fat (a nice big piece which I turned into dripping myself), for us Brits this is essential for cooking your tatties and Yorkshire pud, nothing else suffices!
I'm all for healthy food, but PLEASE don't trim off the sodding fat :/ You just can't get the same taste in yer Sunday Lunch without it.
Never thought I'd say it, but in comparison to many other fast food chains.............. Thank Christ for Tim Hortons! :D |
