Grains in the glass:

Two days, two days had past since Tor last saw Sparrow. At times the behemoth was barely left alone half a day before Sparrow would claw his way into Tor's mind. One thing was certain, something happened to Sparrow, and Tor was set in motion to find out just what that something was. In the depths of the cavern, where the two last met, he desperately dugs into the back of his skull to think on where he may have been. Recalling facts wasn't always Tor's strong point, nor were words. Where words failed him, he found truth in the edge of the sword. After all, that's why Sparrow had chose him after all was it not. Where men's words failed, his actions would speak loud and clear.

Two days ago, they had visited the woods, and adjacent caverns to Buckshire. Spreading the word, that a new power was forming. The way of the woods were lost, and Sparrow the faceless one would bring order back to them. A few lizard creatures lay wake in their path, one plucked of his precious eye before they left. Given a message to pass...

That's it, they must have found the cavern they were using, surely they snuck in there and caught Sparrow off guard. The lizards cavern would be the most likely candidate to find answers.

"Rah!..." Tor's sword lay lodged into the chest of one of the warriors. "Where is 'Ee!"...

Like fodder, Tor chewed through their numbers. Barking out requests before their eyes became lifeless. "...'ow 'bout yuh...."

"Yuh know where 'Ee is I bet!"... "Tell Tor where Sparrow is!"

As Tor rounded the corner, There huddled three more. One stood as the air around them sparkled with an off white aura. An empty socket for an eye, peered at him. "Hisssss..." Thrusting his legs into the ground below him, Tor charged the trio with reckless vigilance. Swipes that normally cleaved the creatures in two, barely scathed the monster with one eye. Redirecting his attention he swung for the other two. The first swipe took out the lizards leg at the knee bone. The second pierced the archer against the wall, sword lodged into its chest. Dangling there, Tor turned to meet the lizards one good eye with a growl.

"Hissssss..." The creature turned and ran into the cavern deeper. Great. Off to tell others of Tor's appearance no doubt. What Tor lacked in the way of words, he made up for with battle tact. Yanking the sword free from the archers chest, it slumped to the ground like a rag doll. Tor rushed to the cavern walls edge, back against it he peered out from around the corner to see if in fact the lizard had made it very far. No where in sight... A sneer slowly etched itself across Tor's lips.

Head stooped into his shoulders, Tor turned the corner tense... He was met face to face with another one of their warriors. The creature growled, so did Tor. The lizard charged, mace drawn over his head... "Raaaaaaahhhhh...."

*CLANG*...

The heavy mace bore deep into Tor's shield... though it left the creatures side open and exposed...

*Slink*...

Warm blood spewed to the cavern floor. With sword lofted, Tor addressed the next lizard... "Wha' 'bout yuh...." The creatures arm swayed as did the bow firmly clutched within his hand. Hard to aim when you were scared for your life...

*Fwip*... Released it met with Tor's shield with a jarring slam, shards of wood erupting from the impact. Charging, the lizards waist met Tor's sword abruptly. Tor wasn't getting answers, and all this accomplished was adding fuel to an already raging inferno. One creature lay between him and the gates leading into the lizards encampment. This one would give him answers, surely. To make sure of it, Tor dropped his sword and shield so he could better persuade the answers he so longingly sought. The creature coward, and Tor made it brief... he kicked the side of the creatures knee... "Where is 'Ee!?"

"RAaahhhhhhHHhhhh..." The creature wailed as the joint in his knee popped. One of the numerous reasons Tor wasn't very good at ripping the information he wanted from someone. He rarely had the patience, and more often then not, he tore too deep. Growling Tor slunk over picking up his sword and shield, laying a boot heavily into the wooden gates...

A dozen lizards, a dozen lizards lay waiting for Tor, and one of them was bound to give the brute his answers. Even if he had to bleed it out of every last one a them. One of them began an incantation, and Tor knew that was his mark. His arms lay thick and loose to his sides as he charged the group. The one whom fought with words, he'd be the first to die. The incantation nearly finished, Tor brought the top of his shield to the bottom of its chin. The creatures mouth snapped shut, the sound of teeth shattering. The next motion made coping with that shot all the better, for the monsters head rolled to a stop just near the back of the cavern floor.

"Somebody better start giving Tor answers... an' QUICK!!!" Tor bellowed swinging at a pair of lizards to his right.

"And what if we don't..." One of the archers in the back row barked as he let loose another arrow.

Tor howled as it met the soft part of his collar. "Raaaahh...Den I'm gonna take every last one a yer 'eads and drive em into a PIKE!" Tor erupted, knocking two creatures away with his shield. Taking his sword in one fell motion, he drove it across the belly of one of the lizards, through the waist of another, and stopping in the side of another after it severed the thirds arm.

The trio slunk to the floor, leaving the archers free for the picking.

"Waaaaait..." One of the archers screamed as it pled for its life.

"What... what do you want...." The creature slithered across its black tongue.

"Wanna know where Tor's boss is!?" Tor responded, as he blew air out of his nostrils audibly.

"Who'ssss yer BossssssS?"

"Sparrow, betcha dat feller wid one eye knows something or two 'bout it eh?"

"Hiisssssss, yuh know... there'ssss better wayssss to getting our attention then killing our kinssssssmen...."

"Spose' yuh gotta step on a few fellers ta get to da snake.... Only'un worth talkin' too eh?..." Tor echoed within the cavern as he raised his chin a bit in defiance. When words failed... truth would be found at the edge of the sword.

Torn, the creature murmured his reply. "Don' know where yer bossssss isssssss....."

"Dat so?"

"Isssss ssSo..."

"Den yuh better tell da rest a da forest, dat Tor's come lookin' fer Sparrow, an' some'un better come up wid where 'Ee is... An'... yuh better tell yer boss dat'un too..." Slumping his head, Tor's eyes shimmered with flecks of red within.

"On one conditionssss....I'll tell my bosssssss.....if you leave our kinssssssmen alone...."

"Yuh got a week, any longer den Tor'll be back..."

"We'll let you know....when we know....." The creature hissed, slinking into the darkness to relay Tor's request.

His search didn't unearth Sparrow, but needless to say, it did bare fruit. The timer was set, and now the grains of sand were beginning to fall...
