DMs: The Comet Posted: 08 Feb 2006 07:40 AM |
The comet blazed in the sky, as large and as bright as the full moon. Seers and astrologers throughout Vives point to the return of "Lreh'maylya," which is elven for "Bringer of the Dead." The comet has not been seen in over 450 years.
Legend states that Lreh'maylya gathers imprints of the dead as it passes over Vives. While the comet is in the sky, the legends say, the dead return to the living, but only for a short while. Some fear the comet, thinking it a harbringer of doom. Others believe it to be the return of some long lost god. And all admire it's beauty and light, which can be seen even in the daytime.
((Look for strange happenings both IG and here until Lre'maylya has passed by once more))
Any chance we can be told what the actual lore or purpose behind this comet is? I'm assuming that Mykal discussed it with someone beforehand but am totally in the dark apart from B using it as a sign for his Tarikian ritual. |

As far as the Tarik ritual goes, that's just an ad libbed usage. The ritual actually happens far more often than that.... but hey, they're too stylish not to use the chance to Hunt when there's a coment called "Bringer of Death" is in the sky.

| Well, only thing I would say then is that it may have helped to know that beforehand. Seems a little over the top for just that, and already being treated by some players I've seen as more significant, including Macha. |

Yea, just a bit of communication would be cool. Even if after the info is put IG, so that we all know what is going on... :)
*is as guilty as anyone of making stuff up on the fly*
*and knows ficcy only has about a 1001 things to write up...so looks quite gleeful when trying to make it 1002* :0)

It was my decision and I approved it. It was spur of the moment and I, unfortunately, got very busy the next day and wasnt able to write it up.
The reason for it was for RP purposes only. Just to have some one on one RP sessions with a *significant dead person* to chat with someone living.
Make as much, or as little, of it as you wish.
It was based on an idea from an old Babylon 5 episode where a similar event happened and it made for some interesting RP.

Cool. What date RL is it meant to happen again?
*just wondering whether to tie it in with "feces wars: return of the turd" in Port*

500-ish years.
Darn.
Sorry, Sirac. Doesn't look like it can coincide with poo wars. |

until we get bored of it, or a month passes?
Either way, you can have the comet at its brightest during your event, after that, it fades away into insignificance.
Comets were almost always considered harbringers of doom. Why not feces?

For the public forums.
DMs are very opportunistic. If one DM sticks something in the game, the rest of us will often pounce on it as an excuse to do other things. Such as poo wars. |
