A wolf in sheeps clothing Posted: 16 Dec 2005 12:44 PM |
(everything below is considered to be unknown unless Shalin tells you)
The rotting stench of death threatened to choke the life out of Shalin as she dashed through the forest, the branches slashing at her exposed skin like a thousand daggers as a hail arrows tore through the air with a high pitched whine narrowly missing.
The thought of hiding in the dense underbrush crossed her mind but she know her open wounds would lead the goblins straight to her. Suddenly she heard someting cry in agony and a large thud, spinning around violently Shalin managed to catch a glimpse of her only friend Shadow lying badly wounded on the ground. The sight of her partner looking like a pin coushin awoken something inside shalin, something hidden deep within her soul.
Faintly shalin can hear a voice, soft and almoast inaudable but powerful none the less, "Leave everything to me*
*snap* frightened shalin spins around just in time to catch a glympse of a goblin flying through the air, its rusted and jagged spear pointed directly at her throat ....... then blackness, darkness, a sensation of both existance and destruction washes over shalin as the world distorts and fades from view.
Moisture, tendernes, a familiar and comforting feeling washes over Shalin as she struggles to lift her head. Somehow Shadow, badly wounded and barely alive, managed to drag herself over to her master in an attempt to awaken her. She had suceeded but nearly at the cost of her own life.
Bewildered and distraught shalin noticed that her arms, face, and torso were covered in a thick layer of partially concealed blood.... but it was goblin blood. What shalin saw next was would put fear into anyones heart.
The land was a disaster, trees lay fallen in splintered heaps and the dismembered corpses of dozen's upon donzen's of goblins lay strewen across the landscape as their endtrals decorated the trees like some cultist christmas party. The area looked like it rained blood.
"What happened?, How did i survive?, who killed these goblins in such a violent way?"
Shalin's attention shifed towards Shadow and the thought of losing her companion was unbearable. In a desperate attempt to save her life Shalin mustered up the last of her remain strenth to cast a healing spell, she could not completly heal shadow but should could take her life out of danger.
Shalin begain to pray and channel the healing forces of nature when she felt a hostile hand hold her back and could faintly hear the words "unbeliever". Someone or something had stopped her, some horrible creature devoid of any sense of compasion was intent of preventing shalins atempts to save shadow.
Her strenth gone shalin collapsed on shadows body as her companion slowly left this world, her bloody tears rolled down her cheek falling ...........
Loud laughter and the clattering of goblets awoke Shalin from her memories as she sat silently in a back corner of a tavern in Buckshire. The sweet smell of wine and the warm glow of the fire eased Shalin's mind as she ate still regaining her strength from last weeks horrors.
Although she didnt mean to Shalin overheard a conversation between two patrons detailing the confrontation between two knight of midor in this very same Tavern not long ago.
Do all nights of midor all conduct themselves in this manner, would they all drive a dagger into the neck of someone showing them mercy and compassion?
The young knight had lost, he had been bested in combat. The man named Byron could have killed him and probably should have but instead he chose to save the young mans life but only recieved a dagger for his trouble.
If this is how the followers of Midor conduct themselves does midoran also conduct himself in such a manner?
A feeling of intense anger washed over shalin as she recalled how close to midor she had been when she lost her only friend, Did midorian stop Shalin? Did Midorian Kill shadow? Determined to solve her questions Shalin head's up to her room to rest and recover. |
