Pet/Familiar Weirdness

I'm not entirely sure if this is intended or not, but it was a bit frustrating.

My Story: I was heading towards the haunted town that's close to the Four Winds Inn. I spotted a raven, and figured I'd kill it for its feathers. I summon my familiar, and cast all the spells I usually do before combat. I then sink a couple of arrows into the raven and it goes down quickly.

This is where the strangeness begins though. Instead of my familiar and pet badger wandering back over to me, they make a beeline for the Northern Ranger, who is standing 10-15 feet behind me. I couldn't stop them both before they had hit the ranger. I did manage to unsummon them before they killed the ranger though (who is deceptively frail...). However, I spent the next 5 minutes or so running all the way back to Buckshire, with the ranger chasing me the whole way. I -think- I finally lost her when I cast invisibility, ran into a random house, and logged off.

Hmm... that took more space than I expected. Oh well.SmileyHad to share. Going to log back in and see if I can get back to where I was without being attacked by that ranger again.

Sounds like this was faction related, by attacking the Raven this will have set the ranger as hostile to you - hence your familiar + summon attacked him. The faction handling is being addressed by the Vives team and should be getting itself replaced by a much improved oneSmiley.

A server reset will likely clear the hostile reaction to you from the Ranger.

Be very careful about damaging party members too. I threw a choking power bag and a few people in my party ran in and were dazed, the familiar saw me as an enemy from then on and would constantly target and attack me. Unsummoning was the only thing that would stop it (other peoples familiars also saw me as the enemy and repeatedly targeted and attacked me).

I dont like the AI on pets, they arent very smart so if I am in a party i usually dont like to use them.

I was wondering why there was an injured ranger standing in the middle of the Trading Post. Figured she must have had a rough day.

Ravens:

If you attack any ravens and they give you hassles, bug report their location asap.

It is a faction problem caused by the ravens being in the wrong faction.

When we find them, we can fix them. In the meantime, if your faction gets boogered up, you can wait for the next reset, or ask for a dm to sort you out.

While Pet/Familiar weirdness is being discussed... I thought I would take this opportunity to ask if there was a way for animal companioins to act in the same manner as someone else (a PC) in your party, when it comes to resting?

If you have your animal companion with you, and want to rest in the wild, could random bandits/monsters/whatever not jump out and attack you?

After all, you are cuddled up next to a large bear (or whatever your animal of choice is). What bandit is stupid enough risk waking THAT up?

Or perhaps it could be "assumed" that your animal companion keeps watch over you as you sleep... since there is no way (due to game mechanics) to keep your companion from "resting" with you the way you could do with annother PC.

I just think it's silly that a ranger can't rest out in the wild, especially when they have an animal friend with them, without getting jumped like any odd adventurer.

I was just playing with Lucius and His spider got stuck on the Voice summoners' hostile list (or the other way around). It was immune to dammage so the spider just kept following it hitting empty nothign for 0.

I hate when that happens.

I am looking at ways to get rid of the stupid voice listener, but until then the only way to solve the problem is to log out/log in.

I'll see what can be done, but random encounters in the wild are a staple of any good adventure :)
