Rhaegar Targaryen, A Brief History, Part I

Rhaegar, born Rhaegar Ith'Syl'Durean, was born into an obscure wildling elven tribe on the outskirts of Ferein. The tribe, known as the Val'Laerian Ith'Syl... or wandering shadowed ones (as translated into the common tongue) lived in the deep dark recesses of the Ferein woods and even extended a little into what is now know as the Mystic Woods.
For many centuries the tribe hand been involved in constant hostilities with neighboring orcish and troll woodland and highland tribes. As it turns out, after hundreds of years of skirmishing and quarelling, a troll offensive managed to penetrate deep into the wildling woodland terrain. Rhaegar's camp was caught offguard. His father, an accomplished wildling ranger was slain in battle, and his mother, a tribal shaman, was captured and taken deep into troll-held lands, never to be seen again.
Many days later, Ferein scouts from the High Elven Rangers came across their shattered homes. Under the command of the high council these rangers set out to recover the survivors and the remains of their brethren wildling tribe. In a troll encampment nearby, and war party of orcs was quickly discovered by the rangers... the trolls were made quick work of by the veteran elven warriors. Afterwards the troll camp was searched, and within it was discovered a barbaric cage of wildling elven children presumably waiting to be roasted at the spit... The children were quickly rescued by the rangers.
Among these children was young Rhaegar...
