juice and dark soda don't mix Posted: 01 Nov 2005 11:23 PM |
don't be fooled...even if you visit webtender.com and it says that it is ok to mix orange juice and coca-cola. they are mistaken.
any exceptions, please explain. |

I can think of a few....
For my first point, I'll say that Cola is Crap, and tastes like nasty burnt sugar crap... and I'm still reasonably sure it's the biproduct of some manufacturing device, and is cheaper than water.
If we look at other dark sodas.... we have...
Dr. Pepper Mr. Pibb Root Beer Grape Soda uhhh Tab? (does that exist anymore?)
I can reasonably see mixing like, Mr. Pibb with, say, cranberry Juice...
And Grape soda is, well, already kind of mixed with a juice... being grape and such... but I can probably see it mixed with cranberry juice as well... Cran-Grape Soda!
.... Rootbeer is.. well, made of a root, and like other root-like products (marshmellow, Potatoes....) I don't personally see it ever being mixed with any sort of fruit. *restrains from going on the giant orange peanut shaped marshmellow rant*
Dr. Pepper, well, I don't usually drink it, I don't really know what it tastes like... matter of fact, I don't really consume any sodas, I prefer other beverages. |

Really, you tried that? To me, wondering if mixing orange juice and cola is good, would be like wondering if nuts and gum is a good idea. :P
You should a try shot of Bailey's irish cream and a shot of lemon gin, together. Yum. It's called a cement mixer. |

| What about apple liquor (cant remember the name ) in a shot glass with baileys inserted afterwards, forms a nice "brain" like shot called monkey brain. |

Xerah was talking about a mixture that curdles when you mix it, because he was being mostly sarcastic *points to nuts and gum comment*
I've been known to put lemon juice and milk in my green tea, and most people think that's pretty gross, but I like my tea to be chewy....
Anyways, There are a lot of Irish Cream recipes that produce a curdled result, because of adding ascorbic acid, which curdles the dairy. |

Reminds me of the time when I was a very young lad..
I thought to myself, "Milk is good, Orange Juice is good, so mixing them together would be even better!"
It ended up yucky. Thus my experiments in chemistry began. |

This one time I bought one of those huge pixie sticks and poured it into a bottle of grape soda.
Ten seconds later, myself and two other people were drowned in grape soda and those two people were very, very mad at me. |

...yeah...i was under the (obviously mistaken) assumption that people don't do obviously stupid things. i do that on occasionally...then am very quickly put back in my place one way or another. the coke and OJ was the 'way' this time.
oh yeah...while we are on the subject of alcohol. i've been unimpressed with any 'flavored' liquor. i had some coconut vodka the other night that was just vile. i can see the usefulness for mixing, i guess, but still think the better method would be to buy a plain liquor (vodka) and mix in some type of coconut liqueur or something.
oh...and i'm glad i'm warned about the OJ and Milk thing...that just sounds horrible...but...if ya see in on the internet, it has to be good, right? i just hope that milk and oj was just an impulsive creation...and never put to text. |

It /should/ be alright, since the coke will float, just make sure you shake before you put the cola in. That being said, I wouldn't drink it.
Alteratively, switch the vodka for rum (a full oz) and swtich the kahlua for Bol's Banana Liquor for a good drink (no cola of course). |
